konečně díl, kterému se nestydím dát plný počet hvězd. v tomto díle se objevujeme v Alicante, hlavním městě lovců stínů, a KONEČNĚ se věci začínají posouvat a řešit. rodiče hlavních hrdinů nám řeknou zase o něco víc o historii Kruhu a o jich samotných, a samozřejmě zde máme i nové postavy. v určitých částech byla kniha smutná, zmatená a napínavá, a právě to mě asi u čtení udrželo. knihy Cassandry Clare se vážně čtou úplně samy. Sebastian je kapitola sama o sobě, a let me pat my back, poznala jsem, kdo to asi bude. jaceova minulost mě ale vážně překvapila, to se musí nechat.

5/5 dávám pět z pěti, kniha byla akční a napínavá, ale zároveň odhalovala další minulé plány Valentýna, takže mě to vážně bavilo. so far je to můj nejoblíbenější díl ze série.
jediná výtka; kdyby se postavy navzájem poslouchaly a nedocházelo tak k nedorozuměním, celá série by mohla skončit tak po dvou dílech :dd

I honestly wasn't able to finish this book, actually. I got bored and tired of it easily. I probably won't be reading the rest of the series either.

Third book’s the charm! I’m not regretting I gave The Mortal Instruments a chance. I’ve fallen deeper into this world more than I thought I would, and I have no desire to come out of it. In all honesty, it does get better. Clare’s writing is terrific as always, and frankly, it’s quite addicting. It was action-packed from beginning to end, which made it extremely fun to read through. By far, I think it’s still her weakest series, but it bridges the gap between her other trilogies so it’s not technically the best choice to skip these books. I’ve already gotten a glimpse of our Miss Tessa Gray, which got me more excited than ever, and now I can’t help but anticipate the many cameos we’ll be getting of her and Jem Carstairs or rather, Brother Zachariah in the next part of the series.

This book was an excellent 'ending' to the series. 

One thing though, is that in the chapter when Sebastian killed Hodge, OMIGOD THEY WERE SO FREAKING CLOSE TO FIGURING OUT SEBASTIAN WAS THE ONE WITH DEMON BLOOD!!!! If the answer were a snake, it woulda bit them. if it were a cliff, they woulda fallen off it. CLUES: Hodge tells Jace with his dying breath "It's not you,". Simon mentions how his blood tastes "Foul, like poison". Sebastian straight up admitted he was working with Valentine. 

I'm really disappointed that they didn't figure it out themselves, but then again, I don't think I figured it out when I first read the book (Though I might've; I usually do figure these things out. I honestly can't remember).

Another thing, when Clary went to talk to the Clave about the Alliance rune, they were all like, "we don't want to listen to you, go away" and then someone said "She's Jocelyn's daughter" and then suddenly everyone was willing to listen. 

Now I know, objectively, that Jocelyn did awesome things around the time of the Uprising, But I have yet to be SHOWN how she did that awesome, and, more to the point, I was under the impression that no one really knew what she did to prevent the Uprising, and then she disappeared right after. SO HOW DOES DROPPING HER NAME LIKE THAT WORK??? Don't quite make sense to me.

One last thing I must mention: Max. I find it astounding how we (the reader) really didn't know Max at all, and yet his death is so devastating to us. It's because he's a child, and his death validates Sebastian's evil. Killing a child in cold blood is pretty mush the most evil, inhuman act on this earth, and that's why it touches us so deeply.

           Acho que essa é uma das primeiras vezes em que uma série de livros começou ruim pra mim e foi melhorando. Eu amei esse livro! Conhecer Alicante foi incrível e os plots da CC nesse livro foram muito mais elaborados. As cenas de ação foram muito boas, principalmente o final. Os personagens me ganharam um pouco mais, torci bastante pelo Jace e pela Clary (a Clary ainda me irrita um pouco pq é burra demais mas eu adoro o Jace), amo a Izzy, o Alec e o Simon e sou apaixonada pelo Magnus. Ainda estou chocada com o que aconteceu com o Max.
Sobre o Sebastian, eu não descobri imediatamente mas certamente descobri antes da Clary que tem que esperar alguém soletrar pra ela entender. Tenho certeza que ele está vivo, e vai ser um vilão muito mais cruel do que o Valentine.
O final foi bom e feliz, o que me deixa com medo do próximos livros. Mas vou ler logo pq to curiosa.

Lowering the rating for the first three books of TMI series because I just had some thinking and realizations dawned on me. THESE BOOKS HAVE SOME SERIOUS ISSUES I DIDN'T LET MYSELF SEE THE FIRST TIME!! But I did enjoy it at some parts, so there's that!

I can absolutely say that this book is way way better than the first two books in this series. There's so much going on that I didn't feel bored reading this, unlike with some other parts in the first two books. I still didn't like Clary's stubborness in a few parts, though, and I was still having quite a hard time being attached with Clary and Jace's couple. But I am now having more motivation to continue on with the series, considering that this book brought me something to look forward to. *cough* MALEC!!! *cough*

PS: I NEED MORE MALEC IN MY LIFEEEE!!!

This was the first Shadowhunters book I truly enjoyed. Both City of Bones and City of Ashes really missed the mark for me, but this one took a turn. City of Glass compared to City of Ashes is like night and day. If you're struggling with this series due to the first two books, I can guarantee you this third one is worth it!

I felt like Clary, Jace, and Simon FINALLY got the true character development that they deserved. From the beginning of this book, I felt like Cassandra Clare really took her time to think through these characters and find their motivations, and then executed them beautifully. I now feel like I actually understand the main characters and they're much more likable.

We always knew Cassandra Clare could write a good plot, but I enjoyed this plot much more. Maybe it is due to the new character development, but I was so much more engaged in this story than the previous two and less stagnant and predictable. In City of Glass, we get action, intra-group conflict, betrayal, plot twists, and I loved it all. 

Lastly, I felt like the writing was much clearer. I didn't have as much trouble with keeping the perspectives straight as I did with City of Ashes and I think that is largely due to the drastically different plots each character was following. Each character didn't meld into one, I could clearly tell which part of the story belonged to which character and why.

I am ecstatic that I continued with this series, this book was definitely worth it. Now I will be continuing with The Infernal Devices (as CC recommends on her website).

I Started the series in 2020, and I'm finally getting around to completing it. The first two books I read in 2020 and remember loving them so much, rereading them this time around I thought they weren't as good as I remembered. This book how ever I loved it so much. I had a couple spoilers for the series and was waiting to find out which book they were from and I can confidently say I have no spoilers for the second half of the series and am so excited. A little confused on how they continue on from her but excited nevertheless.

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (YA)

This is the third book in a young adult paranormal series. This series incorporates just about every paranormal entity known to man....vampires, werewolves, demons, angels and a bunch of cool people who are Shadowhunters...fighters who hunt certain supernatural beings. In this book, Jace and Clary head to the City of Glass, once again trying to stop Valentine from completing his evil plot to get his hands on all of the 'mortal instruments' which will give him practically unstoppable power. As always, they receive help from a great cast of characters...Alec, Simon, Isabelle and Luke to name a few. Not just a paranormal read, this book has elements of romance and action that will keep readers engaged. I highly recommend this series.

By far the best book in the series so far. I enjoyed it immensely and it had the perfect ending. I know there are three more books, but if you do not like to marathon an entire series like me then City of Glass is the perfect place to take a small break from the series.

I felt like there were no loose ends, no cliff-hangers that will drive you crazy. Having said that, there does seem to be so much more of the world to be developed and explored, so I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of The Mortal Instruments. 

Magnus Bane was as flamboyant and witty as ever in this instalment, which made me very happy. He and Simon have kept me smiling throughout the series. There is The Bane Chronicles and Magnus is in The Infernal Devices series too, so I would love it if Cassandra Clare shared with us what future Simon gets up to (as he is a vampire, I expect he will live a long while).

All in all, City of Glass was wonderfully told, Clary and Jace were as angsty as ever, a possible new villain was introduced and Magnus and Simon gave me all the LOLs (and the occasional feels).

Finally, everything is explained. Loose ends are tied up. Conclusions, no cliffhangers, but plenty of twists leading up to the happy ending. This is without a doubt the best book in the series so far. Also, finally I can ship Jace and Clary without feeling awkward. :')

City of Glass is where we can finally explore Idris (actually, not really. I don't think the settings were explained in much detail, but it's located in Idris), and learn more about Clary and Jace's backstory thanks to hints and details from Ithuriel, Jocelyn, Sebastian, and Valentine. We also get to develop a burning hatred for Sebastian who is a complete terrible jerk what the heck.

*cough* Anyways. As is the case with the Twilight series, the battle at the end is a bit underwhelming...? It lasted ten minutes and Valentine, Clary, Jace, and Sebastian weren't even a part of it. Furthermore, the way Valentine was killed was completely fitting, yet not really satisfactory. I felt like it should have been Clary or Jace who killed him. It kind of seems like Cassandra Clare wanted to keep them angelic (literally), with no blood spilled by them.

Apart from that, it was a good book and it wrapped everything up very neatly!

When I first picked this book off of my shelf almost a month ago, I was so excited to read it. I had really enjoyed the second book in the series and felt I was ready to embark on another adventure with the characters.

With that being said, I wasn't wow-ed by this book for majority of the beginning and middle. I had grown a little bored and I honestly can't pinpoint why. It just seemed to drag on and on, but by the time the last third of the book came around the story had really picked up and I couldn't get through the pages fast enough.

There was a lot of information to take in from this book. There was also a lot of recalling from previous books (which I suck at). At times the information didn't make sense or I had to read a page a couple times just to get the image in my head. This can be a bit overwhelming and irritating, but once all the information and images come together and make sense and light bulb goes off and you are left like OMG!

I really like all of the main characters in this book. I will always have a soft spot for Simon, the nerdy best friend, and I will continue to root for him and his happily-ever-after. I then I have another soft spot for Jace who is so full of himself and cocky that you can't help, but love him. I will forever have a love/hate relationship with Clary, but I did grow to like her more in this book, because of her take charge attitude instead of always being in the way. I had hoped we would see more of Alec, because he is precious, but the scenes with him and Magnus were worth it for sure!

There was a lot of fighting and death, but it isn't too shocking, because of what kind of book it is. I was glad there were battles, but was relieved that the last battle didn't take too long. There are some parts of this book that will leave you absolutely speechless and wanting to cry, but there are others that will make you grin like an idiot.

If you read this book and you start getting a little iffy in the middle about if you want to finish it, I highly encourage you to keep trucking and make it to the end, because the end is SPECTACULAR!

With two of the Mortal Instruments now in Valentine's hands, the world of the Shadowhunters teeters on the brink of civil war. Jace and the Lightwoods are recalled to Idris, the Shadowhunters' remote and hidden home country, where a search has begun for the last of the Instruments, the Mortal Glass.

i know i still have three more books in the series and way more in the shadowhunter universe but when i tell you i know i’m going to feel so empty when i finish these books…..

I wanted to give this 3 stars because of how confused I was with Jace and Clary, but Jocelyn's story and the rest of the book put my mind to ease. I feel like I'm getting on board with the Shadowhunters thing after this book. There isn't really even one character that I dislike. I mean, I root for the good guys, but I do enjoy the intricacy of the antagonists.
