She was tired of everyone underestimating her, never taking her seriously, never believing in her

In the start of the book, Coco thinks she got everyone figured out, but as the story progresses and she meets Lawrie, she learns that there is a lot more to a person, that what you see on the outside.

Lawrie is a character I connected with, his pessimistic attitude, lack of hope and aloneness, was something I related to

In a way it almost felt like Coco was like a younger me and Lawrie is more like how I am now

What I really loved was how they both influenced each other so beautifully. 

Coco managed to give Lawrie some of the hope he had lost along the way. 

She also started to understand more how animals and people aren't so different. Both require care and kindness, and if they've been hurt or broken they may cope with using anger instead of communicating their pain. And sometimes all they need is for someone to reach out a hand, reminding them that there's still people who care

This is the 4th instalment of the Chocolate Box Girls series and we follow determined animal-lover Coco Tanberry. I actually read this one first (I didn’t know it was a series) and it still remains my favourite. While it wasn’t as good as I remember, I still had a fun time reading it and feeling nostalgic.

Coco is probably my favourite Tanberry sister. She’s just so passionate about saving the world and hopeful about everything. She is however a bit judgemental about her friends experimenting with makeup and growing up which wasn’t entirely fair.

I’m intrigued to read Honey’s story next as I hope that it’ll be different to all the other books. Honey is usually trying to get her act together at the start of each book, but then it turns out that she’s been secretly being rebellious all along. I just hope that we see more development from her in her book.

I think the plot of this one was definitely more solid than the previous books. It had a clear direction, and that was to save ponies from the animal abuser Mr Seddon. I would like to see more of Paddy and Charlotte as they can be absent at times and only come in at the absolute last second to sort through the situations with Honey and the other sisters.

As always I really love the setting. I’ve lived in Somerset so I know most of the places mentioned and it just makes the story more grounded and real to me. I’m just able to picture the places so vividly because I’ve been to them.

Overall, a solid read. I last read this book when I was probably around 11 and it’s been quite a few years since then, so this isn’t really targeted towards me, but I still have fun reading them.
