Ceremony in Death
Reviews

My Review:
Ceremony in Death is the fifth installment in the "In Death" series and thus continues the saga of Eve and Roarke. In this story, Eve's friend in law enforcement has been murdered, and when it involved the occult, it only makes Eve even more determined to find out who is behind the murders. But then her life is put on the line and Roarke takes guarding her very seriously. This was quite an interesting story and I really had a blast with this one and even though it wasn't quite perfect, the mystery based plot is what made this one so great. The issues that I ended up having was with Eve. I know she needs to be this tough law enforcement officer, but at the same time she is too ruthless in this book. Probably the most ruthless I have ever seen. I would have liked to see her have more vulnerabilities. I am hoping that we see more of that as I explore more of these books in this one here.
Overall I had a good time with this one, and the plot kept me on edge the whole time and the occult theme was so fascinating.

This series keeps getting better! I loved the witchcraft theme in this one.

I finally like Eve.

A good one. Guessed the bad guy, but enjoyed the more occult read for October. Good Dallas/Roarke book.

Every time I step away from these books, I tell myself that I won't read the next installment because it's really not the best writing, the sex scenes are done in a tasteful way but leave the reader wishing for a little more, and the procedures that Eve follows are annoying because they would technically get her fired. Somehow I keep getting drawn back in and enjoying book after book. The only thing that really had me waiting for the end was the cult subject. It just seemed long and drawn out, with the attempt to get the reader questioning if it's real or fake, and there never really was any other kind of wrap up with the other side. I would have liked to find out how they handled the final situation, too, and whether they acted on it or swept it under the rug. I hope it comes up to haunt them in future installments.
