I absolutely loved this book. I wish I started Blue Beech series with this book 😭

Hudson and Stella are the absolute best. There's just something about them that has me hooked. 

Obviously some of the things in this book were a bit too unrealistic to my liking but hey! You can't have everything you want. 

They were so wholesome I don't know how to express what I feel. 

The way they held onto each other and communicated better than I do with myself had me jealous. That could never be me honestly. 

I want to say everything that's on my mind but it's always harder to write about books I love as compared to books I don't. 

So I'm going to stop here before I pick on everything even though there's no reason for me to.

Starting a new book by a new author is always nerve wracking but I must say I was pleased with this book. I loved the characters, storyline & style of writing. Honestly this book was amazing. I’m excited to read the rest.

In this book we follow a bodyguard and actress love story as Hudson, newly returned marine, now single after his fiance cheated on him with his best friend, takes over his brother's job as being bodyguard to our actress Stella, who is trying to gain traction through movies rather than shows and is fake dating her current costar for more fame and publicity. Hudson and Stella are immediately attracted to one another however neither want serious relationships at this point and so they both try to push aside their feelings which inevitably makes the book all the more tense and passionate. However good things cannot last forever when Stella is unable to back out of her contract obligating her to fake date Eli and her and Hudson are caught by paparazzi near enough fucking in the car, they break it off, leaving both of them miserable. After some time, Stella and Eli win an Emmy for the movie they fake dating to publicise and in her acceptance speech she reveals that it was all fake and at the end of the night, Hudson turns up and the pair reconcile. 

This book was actually super entertaining and I felt a lot more attached to Hudson and Stella than I did to Rex and Carolina. I just felt that the story was a lot more gripping and the tension wasn't too cringy or forced. I also just fell in love with Hudson immediately so there's also that.

***UPDATED 8/26/21: now that I have read the rest of the series, despite not enjoying book 1 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND skipping to book two (just one night) and continuing the series there. You won't miss anything too crazy and the series is too amazing to miss out on. Don't let the first book fool you, it gets better. 




I liked this book but it did have some problematic elements. The story had great sexual tension between the characters, and I loved the situation- bodyguard and actress romance. I loved the world building, setting us up for the next books in the series. I wish there would have been more about Hudson being a bodyguard, like we don't ever get to see him spring into action or have to physically defend her. 
What really rubbed me the wrong way was how pushy Stella was toward Hudson. She brings up sex over and over and he politely turns her down and she doesn't stop. If roles were reversed that would be a lawsuit as she was his employer. The only reason I continued the book was because despite saying no we could see from Hudson's point of view that he had feelings from her. But it also still leaves me questioning, why Stella would push so hard even when she got a "no".
