Chosen
Reviews

Chosen is the second book after Slayer. I am a big Buffy fan and these books were very nostalgic for me; they recalled to a great job of expanding the Buffyverse. The beginning started off very slow for me but about half way through i started really enjoying it. I definitely recommend fans of Buffy to try this duology.

Really fun, full of great, unique characters and wit-- and SO much homage to our beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But the best part was OZ!!!!!

*I got this book for review for my honest thoughts* I really thought his book was so fun. I really wish I had re-read book one before the reading book 2. But I really loved being back in the Slayer world. I really loved the new characters overall. I also loved the main plot and mystery at the heart of this novel. I also loved the various camoes we got from buffy verse characters including one of my all time favorite characters. I really loved how Kirsten tackled this world and this character and would def check out future books if we ever get them!!

I really enjoyed Slayer; it felt like a refreshing revisit to the Buffyverse and even though it wasn’t perfect it still captures the essence of our favourite blonde slayer. Chosen didn’t quite live up to its predecessor. It was an interesting book and followed on well from Slayer in terms of storyline, but it wasn’t nearly as fun or as unique. Instead it felt like characters were thrown in for the hope of a squeal of nostalgia from fans rather than for actual plot reasons and the storyline was fairly convoluted even for Buffyverse standards. I didn’t hate it... but I really didn’t love it. Disappointment: party of one.

This was such a good duology, the second book was maybe not quite as strong as the first one but still massively enjoyable. I adored all of the Buffy character cameos and the whole feel of it was very true to the original series from the humour to the drama. The storyline was good, even if one character, who I liked in the first book, did really annoy me in this one. But overall a strong duology.
