The Art of the Brontës
Although better known as writers, the Brontës were also accomplished artists. Charlotte and her brother Branwell had hoped to become professional painters; while Emily and Anne shared the family skill for painting and drawing. The Art of the Brontës is the first book to address these aspects fully, reproducing all of the known paintings and drawings, many of them in color, with entries detailing the provenance, location, and character of each. It also contains essays discussing each of the Brontës as artists and relating their literary to their artistic production.
