Really makes me want to read the whole of The Divine Comedy, so a great introduction to it. Would recommend reading it with access to the internet, the Wikipedia "List of cultural references in the Divine Conedy" is great to help add context to names, places and references to Greek mythology that continuously appear. (Also, for those uf us that don't have a extensive knowledge of 13th century Florentine politics).

Very hard to understand without additional context.

It's sort of the cliff notes version of Dante's Inferno. I don't mind it, but it's definitely missing a lot of the substance that Dante puts into the full text. If you have a short amount of time and just want a taste of Dante's Inferno, but if you want to really experience it I would just read the original.
