The Chase
The 1950 discovery of four bodies inside a sunken steam locomotive in a Montana lake gives way to the story of a murderous 1906 bank robber whose ruthlessness challenged Isaac Bell, a talented detective whose struggle to identify and capture the killer had been complicated by the great San Francisco earthquake. 750,000 first printing.

The Chase by Clive Cussler This is one of my favourite Clive Cussler novels, purely because it is nothing like he's done before. I love the switch to 1906, and main character, Isaac Bell was a joy to read about. The storyline was exciting and what I would consider 'old school'. I love that kind of storyline, it was a a refreshing change from Cussler's normal work.
