Collins Classics - The Woman in White
Reviews

I was very apprehensive about The Woman In White, but I actually really enjoyed it. It's clever, complex and very well-written. The characters are well developed and the different narratives offer an exceptional insight into the mystery. I'm looking forward to analyzing it more closely in class. Update - February 1st, 2016. I keep thinking about this book, and about the relationship between Laura and Walter. I just found a series of letters that I wrote from Laura to Walter after finishing this novel, and reading them made me remember how much I loved this story. I'm definitely going to read some more of Wilkie Collin's works.

I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone! I enjoyed very much the intriguing and mysterious story. It kept flowing with so much wit that I was completely hooked into it! I just couldn't out it down! The development of the characters was also quite fascinating, as they are not plain but are, on the contrary, quite complicated. I specially liked the character of Marian, not only because she is a strong and independent woman, but because of her capacity to sacrifice herself for her loved ones. Moreover, I think that Collins is a master when it comes to description, and he proves it once again in this novel. I personally like descriptions as they help me imagine the setting or the person. This is one of the first mystery novels and it is amazingly written. If you have not read it change that as soon as you can!
