„Confessions of a Bookseller“ ist das zweite Buch des Inhabers von „The Bookshop“ in Wigtown (Schottland).

Bereits sein erstes Buch „Tagebuch eines Buchhändlers“ fand ich sehr unterhaltsam und interessant im Hinblick auf den antiquarischen Buchhandel.
Sein neues Werk setzt dort an, wo das alte aufhörte und unterscheidet sich im Aufbau nicht: es sind Tagebucheinträge eines kompletten Jahres inkl. Onlinebestellungen, Besucherzahl und Gesamteinnahmen des Tages.

So gesehen bietet „Confessions of a Bookseller“ nichts Neues, dennoch hat es mir Spaß gemacht, erneut von seinen Begegnungen mit Kunden und Angestellten zu lesen. Es bietet einen guten Einblick in eine Welt, die mir recht fremd ist, die ich aber sehr spannend finde.

Es wird Bythell allerdings nicht gefallen, dass ich sein Buch auf einem Kindle gelesen habe, hat er doch mal auf so ein Gerät geschossen und es als „Mahnung“ an die Wand gehängt…

Eine nette, leichte Lektüre für zwischendurch.
