i don't know how to describe the emotions i felt while reading this whole series, but one thing i can assure you is that it is a well-written one.

I am going to use this opportunity to express how absolutely BRILLIANT I think Elise Kova is, and this series is written proof of that. Oh, the writing style, the characters, the entire universe. It’s positively beautiful. I loved getting to know these characters, I loved where the plot took them and seeing their growth. I just adored everything and can’t recommend it enough. Kova has an insane ability to make you really feel the visceral emotions from her characters, especially Vhalla. I felt like I was in physical pain with her, because believe me our girl went through it in this last installment. If you’ve gotten this far in the series it means you’ve stuck with Vhalla through it all, and that’s a good thing. If I hadn’t seen the character growth from her in the previous four books then I would have seriously doubted her ability to make it through the horrors she endured. Even still, I found myself terrified that every twist and turn would be her breaking point. I also love that we get to see the growth of Ajax and Vhalla’s friendship, along with Vhalla growing more confident in her abilities as a sorcerer, a soldier, and a leader. Aldrik is, as usual, as swoon-worthy and supportive as any book boyfriend would be. It was a perfect wrap-up for one of the most beautiful series’ I’ve ever read.

My least favorite in the series, by far. A long shot. Boring, incredibly fast paced which usually I enjoy but this just seemed rushed. I only finished it because I was invested in the characters. Even though my favorite character was tragically not hardly involved.

Crystal Crowned is the final book in the Air Awakens series. It beings right after Water’s Wrath and follows the new Emperor Solaris and crew as they wage war on the man who has usurped his throne. Pros: • Alrdick and Vhalla- I’m back to liking them and their relationship, and I’m so glad that all of this finally reached a conclusion. There were a lot of points in the middle where I was just extremely irritated with them and how they treated each other, but they got the ending they deserved. • War scenes- I think there were appropriate amounts of battles throughout and it kept the action moving and my attention engaged. • Themes of fate- The way the story with Vi flowed throughout the whole series and came to a climax here was extremely interesting and one of my favorite parts of the series. Cons: • Vhalla- Without spoiling things, Vhalla has some issues leading up to the main battle and I just thought she showed no growth in how she handled the situation. It’s exactly what Vhalla in book one would have done. • Spin off- At the end of the book, it says that Kova is/or has written a spin off with Vhalla and Aldrick’s child which I honestly just have zero interest in reading. Not that that’s necessarily a negative for this book, but I think she found a conclusive ending and should just leave it there. • Random minor character additions- While it was nice to meet some of the family members of the main characters, most of them served little to no purpose besides just showing up. I understand that they’re supposed to play minor roles, but why even introduce them if they barely come into the story. I read this book in one sitting, partially because I needed to know what happened, but I also think I was a little bit ready to put these characters behind me. I do doubt that I will ever read these books again even though I did enjoy them. 4/5 stars.

What a ride.

4.5 stars! Probably the best book in the series! I loved watching Vhalla and Aldrik grow. I enjoyed every single page (well except for the many times Elise Kova decided to stab my heart).

Ugh, why is this series so good? I loved rereading this!!

Wow what a finale to such an amazing series, there was so many twists & turns I couldn’t predict how everything would play out. I could not of asked for an better ending to my new favourite fantasy series and I will definitely be picking up all the other books set in this universe
