While "Soul Music The Colour Of Magic" is not really a followup to "Life, Sex & Death - A Poetry Collection Vol 1," the first pages of the book feel like it. David’s familiar style is there.

And then, something changes when you reach "Seasons Exist, Rebirth (A Quatern Poem)". It almost feels like a different poet has taken over, one who is older and embraces the little moments even more than before.

In "Surrendering Memories," David tells us about the simplicity of love. The economy of words is perfect, almost haiku-like. In a few lines, mundanity and spiritual depth merge.

This idea is repeated in "The Nature of the Enchanted Heart (A Fibonacci Poem)," one of the shortest and most impactful pieces of the book.

"Soul Music the Colour of Magic" is also peppered with pearls of wisdom. David delightfully writes about the state of the world, being human, and what truly matters.

The best part about this collection? The variety of poetry forms. From the San San to the Shadorma, Cinquain and Golden Shovel (inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven), there is something for everyone.

This book is a wonderful testimony of what a poet can achieve when he or she understands what poetry is all about. And that, in itself, is the main reason why I recommend David’s latest opus.
