This book right now… Holy crap….(am I allowed to say that?) I have never, in my life read a book, where I’ve literally finished and said nothing – felt nothing. I’m literally sitting here, writing this, the second I finished and DON’T KNOW HOW TO FEEL. I’ve read several books that have angered me, and some that make me want to punch the main character(s), but never had I read a book that makes me feel like….I don’t know what… It’s actually disturbingly frustrating and sort of scary… I want to read more, I want to see how this ends, because this is one heck of a story and isn’t typical in any sense of the word. If I coulf relate this to any other work of fiction…the first thing that would come to my mind is Beauty and the Beast except a more modern, twisted and effed up version, where there’s happy ending in sight. The Weavers come from old money and have built an empire from textiles and expensive fabrics. Nila Weaver and her twin brother, Vaughn, have been working tirelessly on Nila’s fashion line that will debut in Milan. Blissfully ignore, she doesn’t know is that her life is about to change forever with the arrival of the man that will soon…inherit her. Taken, or rather convinced to leave with mysterious the Jethro Hawk, Nila discovers her family’s dark history and perhaps greatest shame; Jethro owns her but she has no idea what that means or how to act. Nila believes she can breakfree somehow and get her life back, but no matter what, the Hawks seem to be one step ahead of her and break her down at every turn. The only way to survive is to learn, keep her mouth shut, and do as she’s told. This book right now. Can we just talk about how messed up this book is? I mean perhaps I didn’t read the warning but DAMN, this book is so dark…. Like twisted, like holy crap. You just want to feel so bad for this girl…And you just want her to win but stupid Hawks are like totally god-modding right now! (Gamer term where one side is completely over-powering the other under unfair terms). I’m literally at this point where there’s no way this girl is going to get out alive, like really… There’s NO ROMANCE, and if there is hallejuah! But if there isn’t I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m not saying I hated it because there was no romance in it, NO! I’m just saying….damn…this girl is screwed. In that moment, I shed my kitten baby-fur and embraced a new pelt. One that filled me with fight. One that embraced the elongating claws I’d begun to grow. What could I possibly say about Nila Weaver and Jethro Hawk… The question is what can I NOT say. Here is this young woman, trying to live her life to the fullest and all of a sudden she’s swept up by the man and turned into…well…not going to give that away. I mean what would you do in this situation? I honestly FELT HER DESPERATION, I mean who couldn’t sympathize with her. She tries so hard to figure a way out and just…the struggle is so real… Meanwhile, this Jethro guy…is some serious shenanigans. Like… Where does his family have the right!? Like HOLY CRAP, the anger I felt for this guy…like HOW DARE you treat another human being like that…man,it was for reals… I couldn’t read him and I have no idea what he wants and it’s absolutely frustrating and devastating. “To dispel any thought of running, there’s over one thousand hectares of land. You’d never find your way to the boundary. You’re trapped.” His lips grazed over my jaw. “You’re mine.” I have no idea, how I feel about this book or who to recommend this book to… Maybe if you’re looking for a dark read or something completely different, and unusual than yes, this dark and unrelenting read is for you. 4/5 Stars because this book messed me up Check out the rest of my reviews at http://www.akiikomorireading.com

This story is confusing. I felt like this entire book could've been just summed up in 9 chapters instead of a whole book. But non the less the story line is odd, but being on Booktok and Bookstagram I've read weirder. But something has it's hooks in me. As crappy as this book was to me, something wants me to continue the series. The stories are short so why not. Very hopeful for the 2nd book in the series. Maybe SOMETHING will happen.

My inital rating was 4* but after having finished it a few days ago and thinking about it. No. Absolutely no. 1* for annoying Nila and the MC. Another 1* just because I did read all the books in a few days. But it made me just more angry. I am angry at this series. I feel like it keeps teasing me to continue but doesn't deliver what it promised. I rarely hate a main character as much as I hate Nila. The women has no self preservation. None at all. She comes across as utterly entitled and really really stupid. And it gets worse in the following books. Her demanding behaviour isn't cute or strong. Its destructive. Given her tormentors are rather stupid as well. I just don't get why they just wouldn't gag her when she keeps interrupting, demanding stuff and asking questions over questions. And I feel like I am a bad person to want the victim gagged. Can we talk about the motorcycle club part? Why? Why do we have a british billionar family living in gigantic mansion.. being in a MC? Why? Isn't enough to give them a diamon empire and shit ton of money? What role does the MC play? You can just have loyal employees.. ? No? Why... What MC guy plays polo??

I am still trying to figure out how this book received such high ratings. When I read a book, I want the author to make me believe the story they are telling no matter how far-fetched. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The whole scenario was ridiculous.

I accidentally read this book in one sitting. Oops... I could not put it down. Just like the Monsters In The Dark series, I was sucked in. So far, I really like Nila. Her name is very unique. She's a unique individual. She's a loner, only around her twin brother, Vaugn, and her father, Tex. Also, she has a weird obsession with texting someone she's never met before. She has a runway show for the clothes she makes and at the end of it her father introduces her to Jethro. Jethro has yet to do anything to make me like him. He seems like the prick Pepper has made him out to be. My heart hopes he'll be like Q. (Please be like Q and not an ass hole!!!) Jethro brings her to her new home and they lay down the rules. They expect her to be obedient. She won't go down without a fight though. Nila is a strong person and I adore her for it. This book was a fantastic read and I'm looking forward to what happens after that cliffhanger!

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . This is a very, very difficult book for me to review. But, I find that books in a serial like this often are. So, pardon me while I ramble a bit. But, don't worry, I'll try not to get spoilery. First I have to say I was thrilled to learn that Pepper Winters was releasing a new series. The premise was intriguing and I was excited to begin reading. When I'm in the mood for dark romance, I look no further than Pepper because, in my opinion, no one does it better. She makes me question preconceived notions and pushes my boundaries. Debt Inheritance definitely did the latter. Debt Inheritance was a difficult book to read at times. While Pepper's other male characters have been cold, none have been quite as dark as Jethro. When his intentions towards Nila are revealed, I couldn't help but cringe. I know, I know, family history and all that, but holy crap. Dark. But even with that, I was fine until about the point when Nila arrived at Jethro's estate. The motorcycle gang was hard to take and the events of the dinner party were beyond off-putting. I think I read half of it with my jaw on the floor. Then, in typical serial style, it ends with one hell of a cliffhanger. I'm not complaining about that. I've come to expect them in serials like this. In my opinion, the first book in a serial like this serves one purpose: draw you in and make you want more. Did Debt Inheritance do that? Absolutely. Did I love everything about it? No. I did, however, enjoy it. Ok, perhaps "enjoy" is the wrong word. Let's say I appreciated it for what it was. It was a good, quick read that was full of twists and turns. It's a difficult concept for me to believe – a person owning another person to settle a debt in current-day England – but I'm trying to put aside those doubts and just get lost in the story. If anyone can pull this off and make me see past the hardness on the outside, it's Pepper. It's going to be difficult to do so in books of this length though. I hope there's not a long wait in between episodes or issues. I think there's a great story here waiting to be told. Will I be able to fall in love with a man as dark as Jethro? Maybe. It's hard to imagine now, but I'm open to the challenge. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Holy shit!! I honestly have no idea what I just read, but it was dark, delicious, and I was utterly addicted to it. Debt Inheritance completely lives up to Pepper Winters standards, so fans definitely should not miss this. My twenty-ninth birthday gave me a pet. A toy. A responsibility I didn’t want. Debts I had to extract from unwilling flesh. A job to uphold our family honour. Nila Weaver. So that right there says it all. The Weaver family owes a debt to the Hawk family, and every generation, the first-born Weaver daughter is given to the first-born Hawk son to fulfill that debt. For the past few centuries, this debt has been paid, and Nila Weaver is the next payment. Nila is a fashion designer living her dream. She’s showcasing her designs in Milan, her beloved family is there with her to celebrate, when her world turns upside-down. Turned out, I was never an individual; I was a possession to trade. I was never unique; someone had lived my life many times before, never free, never whole. My life was never mine. My destiny was already written. My story began the night he came for me. Nila has been sheltered by her father all her life; she has little experience with men, so when a mysterious, handsome man named Jethro Hawk approaches her at her fashion show, she jumps at the chance to go out with him. But though Jethro may come off as a gentleman, elegant and charming, underneath it all is a lethal, dangerous force. And he unleashes that force onto Nila and takes her away from everything she’s ever known. Told in alternating POVs, this first installment of the Indebted series is fast-paced, dark, and gritty. We have Nila’s POV, an innocent girl thrust into her very own nightmare. She’s become someone’s possession, but there’s still a fire within her, a fire that intrigues her ‘owner.’ And we have Jethro’s POV, in which we discover what kind of man he is, how he came to be this powerful, sensual, harsh man, and whether he is worth redeeming. This series holds so much potential–I can’t wait to see where Pepper Winters will take this story and these characters. Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version.
