Divergente

Na Divergenci jsem se těšila hlavně z toho důvodu, že mám ráda dystopie. Nedostala jsem od ní to, co jsem předpokládala, ale na druhou stranu nevím, co jsem od YA dystopie očekávala. Máme zde hlavní hrdinku, šedou myš, ze které se vyklube "vyvolená" a poté oblíbená dívka, která se na první pohled zamiluje a její láska je opětovaná. V prvním díle se až tolik neřešila politika, což bylo fajn, hlavně jsme tady sledovali vývoj Tris a jejího tréninku v nové frakci. Knížka je fajn, být vámi od ní ale nečekám mnoho, protože všechno, co v ní je, už jste nějakým způsobem četli. Není to nic nového. ✩ 4*/5*

This book was incredible!! I was hooked since the first page. I had heard mixed reviews on whether the book was good or if the people I know liked it, but I decided to check it out for myself and boy am I glad I did. I haven’t read a book this intriguing that kept my attention in a long time nor have a read a book in two and a half days in awhile. I am so blown away and impressed with this novel and I can’t wait to read the second installment. At first I was nervous about this book. The only dystopian books that I have read were the Hunger Games and I wasn’t sure how similar they would be. I am glad to say they were very different and I didn’t feel like I was reading the same book over again. I liked the characters and the entire concept. The factions were a neat idea. “Faction before Blood” was a reoccurring line and it sent chills through me. The more information I gained about the factions the more I liked them. They reminded me a lot of the houses in Harry Potter, but it is still interesting to think that a society would separate it’s people like that, but to think that you couldn’t have more than one of those characteristics. I love how they concept of bravery and selflessness going hand in hand; not being so different. Let’s take a moment to admire Four aka Tobias Eaton. Since I am only a teenage girl I have to revel in his character, who they chose to play him in the movie, as well as his relationship with Tris. I LOVED HIM/THEM/IT!! His whole pensive, aggressive, soft-side, loving… I can’t even describe him… was just incredible. I loved how the further you got in the book the more you found out about him, and the more you found out about him the more you like him even more!! This series has a lot of potential and I would recommend not relying on the movies to live in this world. Definitely give this book a shot.

Oh man, I don’t even know where to start with this review. I just finished reading book two of this trilogy (Insurgent) and I am just so wowed. I absolutely loved both of these books. They were just amazing. If you liked The Hunger Games and/or The Maze Runner Trilogy then you will also love these books by Veronica Roth. I love that we have moved from vampires and werewolves into this post-apocalyptic suspenseful novels. First off, I have to say, I adored the characters in this book my favorites were of course Beatrice and Uriah, Tobias and Will. Veronica Roth really spent a lot of time developing her characters and each and every one of them was unique and purposeful. I felt like there was a reason behind every character in these novels, and I felt strong emotions toward each one. At times, I felt like the characters were real and I hurt for them at many times while reading. Uriah was definitely my all time favorite though. He was like Finnick for me. If you haven’t read The Hunger Games, you might not get that reference, but let’s just say he’s amazing. As far as plot goes, I didn’t have any issues with plot holes or missing information during either book. I was pulled in immediately during both and I loved them completely. I do have to say that I guessed the ending of book two, but as a long time reader and writer, I have learned to read into foreshadowing and have always been good at guessing major story points. I’ve read some responses from other people and to many the ending of book two is a major surprise. Though it didn’t shock me, it was still pretty awesome. I can’t wait for book three to see where Veronica Roth takes us next. All in all, these books are AMAZING. If you haven’t had the chance to read them yet, do so. They are a lot different then most things I’ve read lately, though they do follow some themes in the current YA genre. These are definitely going to be added to my list of favorites and I am so stoked for book three.

I recently reread Divergent with the goal in mind to actually start reading books that I own in an effort to cull the every growing pile of books I have. It’s been a bit slow going, if I am being honest but I’m making every effort to do so. That being said, I am going to post my old review but if I have new thoughts to add to my old review, I will add them via parentheses and italicizing the statement. I don’t have much to add to my old review as it pretty much sums up what I felt while rereading this book. I understand all the fuss surrounding this series now. I get it. It was a pretty good book but it wasn't great. I didn't fall in love with it like I expected too. I had heard so many things about this book and the series as a whole that I truly expected to love it. Instead, I'm just left feeling eh about it. I think maybe it was Tris as a narrator. She is just so damn dull. (This is still incredibly accurate. I felt like Tris was even more boring the second time around. She did things and said things that just drove me wild. She had the personality of flour, to quote Louise from Bob’s Burgers. A lot of her decisions just didn’t make any sense to me.) I understand that she comes from a very....bland faction (for lack of better words) but still. I felt no real emotion emitting from her. She described everything and just told us what was going on. I couldn't only handle so much of that. I hope she gets a bit of a personality boost in the next book. What I did like about this book was the unique aspects of factions. Where factions are based on personality traits, similar to Hogwarts houses. I really liked that. I hope that we get to learn more about the different factions like Amity. I would also like to learn more about how these factions came to be. I didn't get much of the history of the world Tris lives in. Overall, I liked this book but I wasn't in love with it. (While rereading this book a second time a thought occurred me. It felt like I was reading a brand new book. I only remembered bits and pieces of the book. That is certainly not a good thing) I want to continue it, though, because the concept intrigues me. I hope there are more of the other factions along with how Divergences came to be. Plus, I have heard that the ending of the series is infuriating (I don’t remember what the big ending was supposed to be so I suppose that is a good thing) and I'm curious to know what could even happen to make people get so mad. (Probably something relating to her and Four. They are such a mismatched pair, if I’m being honest.)

One of the best books I have ever read. Amazing world-building, one of the best heroines ever, and superb pairing. Tris is one kick ass girl.

Carino, e per una volta sono curiosa di leggere il seguito- La protagonista, Tris, non mi piace particolarmente ma non posso neanche dire che mi dispiaccia (ed è già qualcosa dato che tendo a trovare antipatiche la maggior parte delle protagoniste dei libri ya). I compagni di Tris nei Dauntless mi piacciono abbastanza, anche se restringiamo il capo solo a Will e Christina dato che degli altri non so chi si salva. Nei "cattivi" Eric è meglio di Peter per lo meno, per quanto Eric sia peggiore perché più "pericoloso" almeno è cattivo per una ragione (la gelosia verso Four) ma ha comunque degli ideali in cui crede (sbagliati, ma pur sempre ideali) mentre Peter è lì solo per fare la parte di quello da battere. Insomma, cerca di uccidere per due volte il primo in classifica (prima Edward e poi Tris) e nessuno gli fa niente? Essere coraggiosi non vuol dire mica essere degli assassini! O i Dauntless si decidono ad allontanarlo o non rimarrà più nessuno vivo da loro. Avevo sentito dire che questo libro era 1) troppo violento 2) troppo simile a Hunger Games. Io non l'ho trovato troppo violento, sopratutto non ho visto violenza gratuita. Non ho neanche capito cosa ci abbiamo trovato di così simile a Hunger Games poi. Si, sono tutti e due libri YA, sci-fi e distopici ma quindi? oh si, qui ci sono le fazioni e su HG i distretti, ma sono due cose completamente diverse e poi in quanti libri c'è una divisione anche solo simile? Anche in Harry Potter ci sono le case di Hogwarts, ma non credo che solo per questo Divergent e HP si assomiglino.

Wow. I really appreciated how original this dystopian was. The ideas were all interesting and handled well. I liked all the characters, but didn't feel that Trix was fleshed out quite enough. For a YA, it was surprisingly clean, though a bit violent. I enjoyed it very much and will be reading the sequels soon!

Loved it. This is only the second time a book forces me to read it at all times. Really enjoyed the writing style and the story, even though at the beginning I was convinced this would be another Twilight in a Hunger Games setting :P Can't wait for the next one!

The book is a great way to see how Beatrice Prior, a former Abnigation member becomes Tris Prior a Divergent.

So awesome! Fast paced and action packed, fabulous series to add to the dystopian genre! I loved the characters, the plot, and the pacing. Incredible debut and I am eagerly anticipating Insurgent!!! PS- Four...please get in my pants. That is all. PPS- Four is 18 so what I said is not creepy...well not illegal.

Still as good as it was the first time.

Well. First I'd say that I'm happy to be finished with this series! It's amazing how much I loved the first book and how dissappointed I've been by the second one; then I had no idea how this one would be. It was far better though. The beginning and some parts may have been a bit slow, but the end was pretty good! Also I may have cried a little, mostly because of Four. "I understand why she did it this way, face-first--it was because it made her feel like she was flying, like she was a bird."

tris is really cool.

Soy una gran fan del género distópico y el mundo que se nos presenta en “Divergente” es sencillamente increíble. Tanto las facciones como la versión semi-destruida de Estados Unidos. La narración en primera persona está muy bien llevada, desde la primera página me dio la impresión de que podía escuchar la voz de Tris y eso la hacía muy real. Además, su evolución durante la historia ha sido tan fascinante como realista. Y me ha gustado también su tono reflexivo de vez en cuando (tengo varias frases marcadas). Su relación con Cuatro es otro de los puntos fuertes de la novela, siendo esta preciosa y muy sana. Y, como punto a parte, Tobias es genial. He devorado desde la primera página hasta la última y he disfrutado de cada una. Ojalá no haber visto la película, para no tener ni idea de lo que iba a pasar (en algún momento haré una comparación entre ambos). Para el segundo, “Insurgente”, sí que voy sin ninguna pista, pero con muchas expectativas.

Há há vários meses que estava para ler este livro - depois de ter ganho o prémio no Goodreads. Confesso que temia mais um livro YA num mundo distópico, mas decididamente consegue marcar a sua posição dentro do género. A escrita não é brilhante, mas é boa o suficiente para nos manter agarrados. O mesmo se passa com a história, que peca por um excesso de explicações iniciais, mas consegue manter-se sólida ao longo do seu desenvolvimento. O mundo criado pela autora é interessante o suficiente e tem alguma originalidade em si. No fundo é mais um YA, mas pelo menos é dos bons.

J'ai trouvé ce deuxième tome vraiment plus passionnant que le premier. Le personnage de Tris est vraiment torturé, c'est un personnage fort et engagé. Pour ce qui est de Quatre je le trouve un peu agaçant et très peu réfléchi dans ce tome là. Par contre l'intrigue avance bien, c'est dynamique, je trouve que les révélations sont faites quand il faut pour donner envie d'avancer toujours plus dans l'histoire. Je ne peux pas mettre les 5 étoiles car il y a certaines choses que j'ai vu venir mais sinon j'adore !

Divergente é o herdeiro mais directo desta nova vaga e a sua publicação foi um sucesso. Saído da mente de uma jovem estudante de Escrita Criativa, é já um sucesso nos mais de 15 países onde foi publicado e hoje Veronica é escritora a tempo inteiro estando neste momento a preparar o terceiro volume da série que saíra no Outono de 2013. Nascida em Chicago, cidade onde se desenrola a acção de Divergente, Veronica viu o seu primeiro livro receber os prémios Katherine Tegen Books de 2011, o Favorite Book of 2011 e Best Young Adult Fantasy&Science Fiction 2011 do Goodreads, entre outros, tendo o livro recebido opiniões entusiasmantes da parte dos seus leitores. Este livro estava na lista dos que eu quero muito comprar devido as comparações entre este livro e a trilogia Os Jogos da Fome que adorei mas acabei por o ler através do Clube Blog-Ring uma vez que a oportunidade surgiu. Também em mim este género de livro tem suscitado uma grande atenção, muito devido a forma como estas recentes autoras têm apresentando as suas distopias. Divergente toca de uma forma muito parecida aos livros de Suzanne Collins, emergindo sobre os mesmos temas da falta de liberdade, controlo dos órgãos de poder, divisão acentuada de classes e a soberania da lei do mais forte. Ao escolher também uma rapariga que marca pela mesma personalidade rebelde e lutadora de Katniss, Veronica podia estar a chegar perto da cópia mas as semelhanças terminam aqui. A sociedade desta Chicago do futuro está dividida de uma forma mais linear, que prende o cidadão a uma única qualidade ou característica, criando não uma sociedade mas quatro que convivem entre si, nem sempre da melhor forma. O que a autora nos apresenta é a decadência dessa forma de governo, os seus segredos e tiranias por trás de uma aparência não tão clara como seria suposto, e apresenta-nos Tris como a evolução ou solução dessa sociedade que apresenta em si um pouco de algumas facções, apresentando um perigo para essa sociedade ideal onde o cidadão não pensa e deve cingir-se a posição que cada facção guarda para si. Encontrámos portanto uma crítica a sociedade, uma visão quase perfeita que falha pela ambição de alguns dos seus membros e que poderá ser solucionada pela união das características de todas as facções. Divergente é, então, um grito pela individualidade própria, pelas decisões pessoais e uma amostra de que não se pode considerar o ser humano igual e que todas as diferenças são necessárias à sobrevivência e entendimento. Transmitir algo tão forte num livro juvenil é arriscado e pode tal mensagem passar despercebida pelas crises e amores de uma jovem de 16 anos que, por mais forte que seja, também detém o direito aos seus medos de miúda e, daí, talvez não. A perda da juventude, das brincadeiras e graçolas pode afectar gerações como mais nada o pode fazer e, apesar da jovem vida de Tris, este é um alerta que em determinadas conjunturas a idade pode pouco importar. Este livro acaba por carregar em sim uma mensagem política e social mais forte do que aparenta a primeira vista. Apesar de tudo isto poder ser absorvido neste livro, a autora dedicou-se em demasia ao romance da história e podia ter passado mais deixando a protagonista longe de tais condicionantes ou podia ter transmitido esse romance de uma forma mais chegada à maneira como nos apresenta Tris, acabando esta por ter falhas e disparidades na personalidade, que de alguma forma incoerente, consegue mesmo assim tornar o leitor seu companheiro e faz com que este a aceite melhor. As restantes personagens são mistérios que prometem ser desvendados e que passarão da clareza à profundidade, se a autora conseguir manter o ritmo da história, podendo tudo alterar-se no segundo volume. De resto, é uma narrativa bem construída, uma leitura viciante que absorve o leitor e o deixa a desejar por mais. A escrita de Veronica é directa, crua, sem grandes malabarismos mas com um sentido de “preto no branco”, absorvendo através das emoções mais elementares aqueles que pegam no seu livro. Consegue, ainda, distanciar-se da trilogia de Collins e criar algo próprio que fará muitos dos seus leitores pensarem um pouco para lá da história entrelinhas. Uma leitura revigorante que nos faz desejar que toda a YA fosse mais assim e, sem dúvida, um calmante para os fãs de Jogos da Fome que ansiavam por algo do género.
