Movies about movies are pretty common and usually a blast to watch. However, I didn’t really see this self reflection as something that would be done in comics. Bad Weekend is a comic about comics and it’s not about the good side of the business. A lot of the problems highlighted in the book are still prevalent today and will probably be for another generation. I’m not sure how this falls into the Criminal universe as I haven’t read Criminal, but I understood everything so that’s always great. While the story is great and approachable in terms of complexity, it is definitely enriched when one understands the history and anatomy of comics.
