loved this one

I shouldn’t be so amazed that this lady can pull off having a character who is a literal ghost but of course she can!!

LOVED. Miss Elin knows what’s up. Her writing styles is so unqiue but I ate it uppp. Nothing like reading about a fun hotel while being at a fun hotel :) 10/10 on the characters and plot

I LOVE a good “beach read” during the summer. Nothing too heavy, with the right amount of cheese. This book hit all the points of that category for me and was great to finish off my summer vacation with. I will definitely keep Hilderbrand in my mind for next summer!

I'm relatively new to Elin Hilderbrand - this is only my second novel by her. I really liked this book but did feel like it was a little slow at times. I also listened to it on audible and found it hard to keep track of all the characters (although that's probably just a me thing - I really can't keep track of more than 5 characters if I'm not able to flip back pages and remind myself who they are). There were some twists that were interesting too. Overall, solid B+ novel.

The writing. The characters. The story. Everything. I loved it all

So entertaining, had no idea where it was going to finish!

I’ve had a pretty rough go in my personal life lately. September of 2022 was just brutal, October hasn’t been the greatest so far. I have found that what I’m going through in my personal life has a pretty deep impact on how I respond to what I’m reading. I read some books during this time period that I didn’t really enjoy, and it might be that I didn’t enjoy them because I was in a dark moment in my life. I’m not feeling bad for those books, they should have been good enough to pull me out of my funk, but it’s possible my funk is why I didn’t like them in the first place. It’s a toxic cycle, I can see that now. Elin Hilderbrand is good at feel-good. Like most of the books I read, I had no idea what I was about to read before I started the book. I knew I was looking forward to it, but other than that, I was reading blind. I get most of the books I read from the Indianapolis Public Library System, which, thank goodness, has ebooks that I can download directly to the Kindle app on my phone. I recall feeling a rush of relief and exhilaration when I finally put this book on hold. I knew that soon, I was going to get a book that would at least make me smile. I had zero problems with this book, at all. I know I usually complain about alternating points of view, but this book worked that format wonderfully. The book was chronologically written from different points of view, so it was the same story from different angles. It worked quite well and didn’t irritate me. That alone means it gets a rave review from me. I absolutely loved the characters. I even loved the characters we weren’t initially supposed to love. From Lizbet, the matriarch of the hotel, to Richie, the late-hire night auditor, each of them has a place in the story. This story wouldn’t work without each of the players, and Hilderbrand was brilliant in how they were all written into the plot. Some of them played bigger parts than others, and they played out beautifully. Alessandra grew from a thoroughly abhorrent person to one we felt we needed to shelter and care for. Edie came across as naïve at first, but she grew into a boss-woman of her own. Experiencing how each character grew throughout the novel was genuinely inspiring. The ghost was one of the best parts of the story, and Hilderbrand was able to incorporate her into the hotel without it becoming a run-of-the-mill haunted house story. This is just a neat book. It’s a feel-good story wrapped around romance in multiple forms. In the end, everybody is OK, which is a rarity. I almost wish for a sequel, but I’m not sure she could top this one.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by Elin Hilderbrand and it will not be my last. I loved this book so much. From the details of the hotel to the character development throughout the book. I did guess a couple of the twists that happened at the end but that didn’t spoil the book for me.

I had mixed emotions while reading this, but the ending is what made me give it 4 ⭐️. Although I found this book a bit slow paced, I loved the diversity of the staff of the Hotel Nantucket and the fact we got a sneak peak into their outside lives and backstories.

Cute, fun read

loved it! such an easy read - felt like I was catching up on people's lives at the end of the day

A light, sweet beach read for fans of Gilmore Girls and that scene from It’s Complicated where Meryl Streep and Steve Martin make chocolate croissants. A breezy from from summer to fall (ghosts… on the beach). The next time I want a refreshing, I’ll look for something from this author.
