There are times when the publishing world gets it utterly wrong. The author self-published this book via Amazon and I have spent the better part of the last three days wondering why on earth a UK publisher didn’t snap this up. To say Turning the Tide is a good book would be a huge understatement!

Have you ever wondered whether you could go home without the past coming back with you? Is it ever possible to compartmentalize trauma and lead a fulfilling life? This is exactly what Mhairi attempts to do when she accepts the position of Head Teacher at Allaban High School, in the same town she fled fourteen years prior. Shortly after settling in to her new life, Mhairi’s past creeps in and her carefully planned life begins to unravel. 

The author brilliantly blends themes such as trauma, friendship, love and loss and creates a rich and compelling novel that you cannot put down. This book is excellent and I would highly recommend it to everyone. If you’re a fan of Colleen Hoover or Jodi Picoult, you will love Elizabeth Harvey.
