The Alien's Ransom
Reviews

** spoiler alert ** I wanted to like this, but it just fell….super flat for me. I know that sci-fi alien/human women romances are not new, but this just felt like every other one I’ve ever read (aside from my queen Ruby Dixon). Maybe it didn’t work for me because I read all of the IPB and Icehome books before this and I feel like they’re top tier sci-fi fated mates romance, but I just felt…bored. I really try not to compare authors or series, because I don’t feel that that’s fair to either author. AND I know that at some point, there are only so many ways to write about something and there’s bound to be similarities throughout different series in a given genre. However, I’ve read good alien sci-fi romance and I’ve read bad alien sci-fi romance. This book is the latter. It was super instalove on both MC’s part. I don’t hate instalove, IF the instalove makes some kind of sense, but it’s still not one of my favorites. The fated mates concept is one of my all time favorites, but I usually enjoy where they’re fated but still have to fall in love. Again, IPB does this perfectly. This book does not. The conflict felt….unnecessary and out of nowhere. Like the H just leaves his brother in the prison? I didn’t feel like that made any sense after all he talked about getting him back. The h was so bland. I cannot recall a single detail about either main character if that tells you anything. Not even their names. Also, I’m all for different alien anatomy. But I swear it felt like she threw the kitchen sink at this alien man’s junk??? It felt so forced. The motorcycle gang aspect was cool to a point. But the author didn’t do anything with it. She didn’t expand on it in any sense. They’re in an alien motorcycle gang. Okay that’s great, but what do they do?? It just felt like someone trying to write something different without really using it as a plot point. Maybe this will work for someone, but it didn’t work for me. This is not a series I’ll be continuing. I also have seen some problematic issues involving this author, who evidently is writing under a pen name. Either way, I wouldn’t recommend this book or series even without the concerning issues with the author.
