Delta Force Operative John “Tank” Sanders is a few years away from retirement. The old man on the team, he keeps his head down and his heart guarded. Burned in a relationship as a young man, he’s sworn off getting involved. Love isn’t for him and no woman is worth the effort. To save money while building a house, he moves into his RV and parks it at a local trailer park. Collette McCallick has been fighting an uphill battle since getting pregnant at 16. After years scraping by, raising her daughter, she’s finally at a point she’s pursuing her nursing degree. Going to school full time and working part time leaves her teenaged daughter home alone more than she cares for. After her new trailer park neighbor, a quiet Delta Force soldier, comes to their rescue with his plumbing skills, she’s hopeful that someone in her neighborhood can check in on her daughter while she’s away. When Collette’s daughter disappears from a church parking lot, Collette turns to the Delta Force soldier for help, knowing the longer the teenager is missing, the less possibility of finding her alive. Together, they follow a trail of clues and discover a passion neither wanted nor can deny.

John AKA Tank is perfectly happy for all of the team-mates that have fallen in love lately. It's just not for him, not until he retires in 4 years. He knows what military life can do to relationships and he has no wish to repeat that experience! He just wants to get some work done on his new house but it's not ready yet so he's moved into his trailer at the local trailer park. He's not there 24hrs before he has to step in when a teenage couple is being harassed by the local thugs. He gets some kick-butt but totally inexperienced backup that he doesn't expect! Collette is working flat out to get a better life for her daughter. She was a single, teenaged mum and she is determined to give her daughter everything she wasn't. She's at school full time, holding down a part time job and feels awful that her daughter has had to grow up quicker than others her own age. But her new smexy neighbour is making her feel like a woman again. Something she can't really afford! I loved watching these two circle each other! The attraction is evident but neither wans to derail their plans in case the relationship implodes. I loved the meddling kids and teammates! The protector plotline is actually more for Collette's daughter rather than her and I thought this was a really great take on the protector theme.
