I'd give this book a 4.5 because it was really different than what I was expecting, but I still really enjoyed the read. This book was recommended to me by a person who knew how much I loved The Well of Loneliness (which everyone should read, btw) and I am definitely grateful to them for bringing this book to my attention because I don't know how I would have ever found out about it otherwise. I absolutely love how this book painted such a rich and full picture of the lives of these characters.
