This was good! I liked the characters and I liked the story. But for some reason the structure bugged the hell out of me. This was one of several books in a row that was structured in a non-linear, time jump-y way and I think I Got tired of that device. But still a solid 3.5!

2.5 stars, I guess. I can appreciate the research and detail that went into this novel, which Maybe should have left it at 3, but entertainment factor and enjoyability was a barren 2.

At first I really liked the story, but I wasn't expecting to read about severe child abuse. It made me feel sick to the stomach and unhappy, so I quit reading the book immediately. I wish there would have been a warning on this book, I read books to enjoy myself, not to feel depressed after.

I was interested to see other book by this author, because I read "Room" and was quite interested. However this book was a total let down. Most of the time I didn't understood what was going on, people appeared like mushrooms after the rain without any introduction. I could look past through that, but the plot also was boring and I couldn't care less about any of the characters. So I had to put this book down.
