The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde

The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde

Eve Chase — 2017
Nineteen fifty-nine. The four Wilde sisters, Isla, Violet, Maggie and Dot, are spending the summer in the Cotswolds, at Applecote Manor. Affectionately called the Wildlings, the sisters are exceptionally close, yet this year there's a sense of nostalgia. Things are changing. Except for Applecote itself, a house that seems frozen in time.

Now this was a book I didn’t struggle to get into. I particularly enjoyed the storyline of the sisters, their closeness and their squabbles. The insistent and sometimes obsessive nature of Margo who wants to get to the bottom of the mystery yet at the same time seems utterly seduced by the deliciousness of it all. It was a read I devoured over just a few evenings and caused a few bags under the eyes when I didn’t realise the time! Although I didn’t guess the ending as I found it a bit implausible it was all in all a good read and one I’d recommend for a cosy mystery.
