Her writing, characters and the emotions she pulled from me made her an easy addition to my "auto-buy" author list. I waited (semi-patiently) to see what she would give readers next. The short answer? Another hit. Eyes Turned Skyward is a companion novel, of sorts, to Full Measures. I didn't know this going in, but it made me even happier because I got glimpses of Josh and Ember, characters I loved so very much in the first book. But, the real stars of this book were Paisley and Jagger. Oh, and how I loved them. They were both truly spectacular characters on their own, but when together, magical. My heart ached for Paisley with the loss of her sister and the fact that she herself might not have that much longer to live. I understood that she wanted to live each moment to the fullest, even if I didn't understand why she was choosing to do some of the things she did until later. She was easy to connect with and even easier to love. It's obvious things weren't going that well with her boyfriend. He treated her like she was far too fragile. She knew her reality. She didn't need him reinforcing it. She wanted love and passion. Enter Jagger. Holy mother of all swoony book boyfriends. He was precisely what she needed and everything she probably shouldn't want. After he saved her life, they became friends, but there was an underlying attraction trying to bubble to the surface. And when it did? Explosive. You don't go into reading a book about a young woman with a serious heart condition and think you're going to find a light, fluffy book. I knew this one would potentially wreck my life, and at the very least punch me in the feels a few times. It was a total roller coaster. There were laugh out loud funny moments, passionate and sexy romantic moments, and sob quietly into your iPad moments. I went through all the emotions. I felt every feel. I can't recommend this book – and Full Measures – highly enough. Nothing I can say in review can do justice to the gorgeous writing, incredible characters and the pure emotion in Rebecca's books. If you're a fan of new adult contemporary romance, you should be reading these books. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
