Fun fairytale rom/com start to a promising series. I’m always down for twisted fairytales and this one made me miss Once Upon a Time a little bit. Ransom and Lucky made a good second chance romance couple. I particularly liked that Lucky’s unluck didn’t devolve into a poor me situation, and that her first thought was always whether it hurt those around her. Not that she didn’t feel those moments of knowing her wants and desires were never going to be fulfilled, she was always a little more outwardly focused. That made you want to root for the two. But, let’s be real, the Fairy Godmother’s and characters in this town were a treat, and made the story really enjoyable. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in Ever After.

This was a super cute, really fast read. We follow Lucky and Ransom in a second-chance romance as they take part in a pretend wedding to bring back love. The story takes place in a fairy tale town called Ever After. The presence of love in this town increases the magic. I adored the town and all of the fairy tale characters that live there. I also really enjoyed that there was some expansion on the stories of the those characters and would love to see even more of that expansion in the future books. I loved the elements of family that were brought in with Lucky's best friend Gwen's kids. I found Lucky and Ransom to be fun characters to follow and adored the three fairy godmothers. This is also very much a rom-com and there were several scenes that I found hilarious. 

There were a few things that I didn't really enjoy about this book. At the beginning of the book I found the writing style to be quite clunky. As I got more into the story it felt much more natural, but it made it a little hard to get into from the very beginning. There is also the premise of why this is a second chance romance. Lucky and Ransom dated in college, but broke up after a situation known as "The Incident". This leads to Ransom being gifted the nickname "The Boy Who Missed". This nickname follows Ransom his entire life, even into him becoming a billionaire. That never made since to me and it is never explained why or who an argument from college makes it to the newspapers and becomes such a big story. There were also moments in dialogue heavy scenes, specifically while the three fairy godmothers talk, where I got very lost in who was saying what. 

Overall it was a very enjoyable read that I flew through. It was super cute and I will be picking up the future books in this series.

What an adorable read! The fairies reminded me a lot of the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty.... I loved them! It was a quick read for me, and I felt fully immersed into this magical world of Ever After! I only found out that there's going to be a sequel, which I'm already dying to read!

2.5 rounded up to 3 stars. I had so many hopes for this story. Ever After is the perfect fairy tale setting for a modern day romance. And the Ever After cast is perfect too. But the main characters lack development and the story regularly has odd jumps in time or unrealistic time lines that left me feeling like I missed things. Though there are plot hopes as well, the sense of time and missing details about Ransom and Lucky made reading far less smooth than I would've liked.
