         When I know I’m going to read related books in close proximity to each other, I usually wait and do a review that includes each.  I’m not entirely sure why I strayed from that practice with this book and it’s predecessor.  When I finished reading 

, I had many thoughts and rushed to get that review written before I had even put a hold on this one at my library.  It didn’t even occur to me to hold off on publishing that review until I had completed this book.  It might be a testament to how chaotic my brain has been lately.  I have sooooooooo much to do on a regular basis that I just don’t remember something small like holding off on publishing a review. 

            I truly wanted to start this book and find the continuation of Mia and Adam’s love story.  I wanted them to be together while they both went to college, with Kim close by, of course.  I wanted this book to include silly college-aged-kid problems, like only being able to afford ramen noodles.  I realize that wouldn’t have made for a great storyline, but that’s what my heart wanted for these characters.  I was intensely disappointed to find Adam and Mia (and, unfortunately, Kim as well) completely disconnected.  Not only did their lives not revolve around each other, they weren’t even in the same solar system.  I was mad, and that’s the worst way to start a new book. 

Upon further reflection, I realize that the book wouldn’t have been all that interesting if these characters had the stereotypical college life. This wouldn’t be an epic love story if Adam and Mia had not gone through their periods of angst and despair.  Academically, I fully understand that, but my poor heart just wanted Mia to have as much of a normal life as she could.   This book, told from Adam’s point of view, gives us what he’s been doing since Mia’s accident.  I was slightly miffed about Adam having such a profound reaction to being rejected by Mia, especially after what he said to her when she was in a coma.  Adam’s family was alive, Mia was alive.  I feel like his reaction to a breakup shouldn’t have been as severe as it was. 

            However, again, this story wouldn’t have been much of a story had it not been for the trials they both went through after Mia woke up.  I appreciate the story, and I’m glad it ended the way it did.  Forman did a good job, even if I wanted different things for these characters.

The book was good and I liked the fact that it was in Adam's point of view. But it was a bit predictable, well that is what I thought.

★★★★★ // that mix of anger and love pulsating through every page of this book. the fact that all of these happened in one night, and every second of it you just know that they still love each other so intensely just as much as they did back in high school. god, this book, what an experience.

Where She Went (If I Stay #2)

           Cover Gushing Worthiness: I really like the cover of Where She Went. I think it’s beautiful and again like If I Stay where the book couldn't deliver, the cover certainly did.

Review: I didn’t finish this book, plain and simple, but I did want to say why I didn't finish the book. Where She Went is told from Adam’s perspective and takes place three years after the events of If I Stay. Obviously Adam and Mia are no longer the ‘Groovy and Geek’ couple and Adam is certainly pining for it. First of all I don’t think there needed to be any sequel. I didn't quite see the point of it all. I should have realized that I would pretty much feel the same way about Where She Went considering that I didn't like If I Stay, but I chose to read the former because it was supposed to be better than the latter, but I thought it was worse.

I really couldn't stand Adam. I just wanted to slap him to the point where I dropped the book. This is the first book in a very long time that I haven’t finished. I just wanted to pull my hair out. It’s been three years, but most realistic people do something called moving on. None of us really forget the person we were first attracted to and that’s fine. But most of us don’t pine for them. We move on with our lives and do our own thing. I thought Adam was jerk towards his girlfriend Bryn, who I liked a lot more than Mia. She was way more interesting and passionate. I also felt like Adam lived in his own little bubble most of the time while the world moved on. Honestly mate you need to find yourself a life. I skipped to the ending and it was such a cliche ending. It would have been way better if Adam just got his closure from Mia and moved on.

Overall Where She Went like If I Stay was a thoroughly disappointing book. I really had enough of Adam’s wallowing. I didn't quite understand how Adam’s bandmates could put up with him.

This is definitely a teen coming of age Romance situation. That being said, I liked this sequel better than the first book & found myself impressed by the authors depiction of celebrity & the resulting neurosis. I rooted for both main characters, but there’s nothing earth shattering here & you do have to read the first book for it to make sense. So, an easy take it or leave it depending on your mood.

I wasn't planning on reading this sequel but I'm glad I did. I didn't like Adam for most of this book nor did I really like Mia either, but it was interesting to see this story unfold and the 2nd half of the book is so much more interesting.

wow. this book was pretty damn good. had me a bit nervous the whole time cause I was like 'what's gunna happen is he going to leave!?' or 'is she going to leave!?' it was great. the ending was super satisfy, even had me a bit teary-eyed. I think that I liked the first one better, just because It showed more detail I guess you could say. and it showed more feelings of everyone and Adam to Mia and vice versa, which I really loved. but this one was very satisfying in what happened after the fact. 
Overall it was a really good book and I think that if you read the first one you should definitely pick up this one and read it cause it's super satisfying.

The sequel to If I Stay by Gayle Forman. Very different POV from Mia Hall's, in a good way.

Wow. Adam Wilde is probably one of the best fictional guys ever. He's the kind of guy who loves with all his heart and soul, and that really attracted me to him. So when Mia left him, wow, his life totally went downhill, and then he turned it back around, and then fell apart again. His POV is totally different, and I love this book because in If I Stay, I was really curios about his thoughts. This book gave me what I wanted, and I sure wasn't dissapointed. Both books were like puzzle pieces, where you understood both Mia and Adam more as the story progresses until finally, all the secrets were out and you understood them completely.

His thoughts were so compelling, rich and poignant. His thoughts were laid out on the pages, and you could totally empathize with his different feelings. I felt his boredom, his impassiveness, his anger, frustration and his extreme loneliness. He had his band and his fans, but he was solitary without her. He needed closure with Mia (but not really) and I really liked that. I enjoyed this book more than the previous one, and I am satisfied with the ending.

Wow. Just wow. How the sequel could be so much better than an already amazing book i'll never know, but Where She Went truly was. 

This time the novel is from Adam's point of view, and it was just so raw and believable and simply real, that i couldnt help but be drawn to him and his story. 

If it were possible to give 6 stars to it, i wouldnt hesitate.

I liked the tone of this book. It departs from the adolescent fiction tone of the first book, and sounds more adult-like without being gritty or vulgar in any way. So, it appeals to adults while remaining interesting to young adults. Grief can break down our souls and this book explores the healing quality of forgiveness and acceptance.

[It's an OK book -books?- and I suppose it will make good blockbusters, but I preferred The Fault in Our Stars, and I didn't like one that much. So, if you haven't read The Fault in Our Stars nor If I Stay, read The Fault in Our Stars. And if, after that, you still feel like reading about children and hospitals, give this one a go. It's a short one, so even if painful to read, the suffering won't last.]
