Silas Marner The Weaver of Raveloe

George Elliot's classic novel "Silas Marner: The Weaver of Raveloe" is a story about a linen weaver. The story is set in the early years of the 19th century. Silas Marner, a weaver, is a member of a small Calvinist congregation in Lantern Yard, a slum street in an unnamed city in Northern England. He is falsely accused of stealing the congregation's funds and is banished. He moves toRaveloe and works as a weaver, being successful and hording all his gold. When his gold is stolen he frantically searches for it but only finds a young girl with golden hair. He decides to raise her as his own.
