Edit: so I caved because I'm in a reading slump and I need something where I already understand the worldbuilding. This was fine. It definitely hasnt ruined anything for me but I just found this to be such average conclusion to such a lovely first book. It should've been a standalone with an ambiguous ending for certain. --- After reading reviews and listening to about 6 chapters of this, I've decided not to finish it. Girls with sharp sticks was such a chilling, smart and above all, SUBTLE, book. The second book in the series lacked a lot of that subtlety but I persevered and enjoyed it fine. however this one is even more on the nose and most reviews say that it gets worse, and boring to boot. I don't want to end this series on a sour note, so I'm going to just leave this one and pretend it was a duology.
