Le donne Medici nel sistema europeo delle corti XVI-XVIII secolo atti del Convegno internazionale, Firenze, San Domenico di Fiesole, 6-8 ottobre 2005
These contributions outline the history of the Medici family, from its beginnings to its decline, through its women, reconstructing their connections to the family, as well as their relationship with power and their role in the State. The articles trace the travels of Medici women to and from the Florentine court, as they carried the dynasty to the heart of European history. Works address art history, literature, history, material culture and gender studies to not only bring new perspectives to well-known figures, but also to bring the lesser known out of the shadows, including the members of the court cultures in which the Medici women operated.
