i’m not really that into short story collections but this is an exception. amazinggg horror and thriller content!! for almost every single short story there was a plot twist that i was not expecting. the writing was also amazing in the way it was so “secretive” and ominous. i REALLY really liked this

4.5/5 - this novel was a close 5 stars for me. i found the atmosphere to be beautifully crafted: macabre, ominous, desolate. the prose was wonderful. the characters had a certain enchantment about them - a girl surrounded by death, perhaps unknowingly, and her companion who is never named. it was a great exploration on the closeness of death, the differences between life and death, grief, and all the in between. i thoroughly enjoyed this and took my time digesting it in small pieces as i went.
