Hero as alien; alien as nerd. Mortality riff is interesting so far. (Only way to make this character interesting.) Two things to like: Supes’ dad bod and the author’s understanding of complementarities; it would hard for a world with a superman to not make massive scientific breakthroughs. #2 is extremely sweet: what would a high-power date be like?

My boyfriend has insisted that I read this run as it's something very dear to him, and I think he wants to change my perception on Superman. The art in this is STUNNING and I actually like it so far. There may not be much review for further issues as there's a lot in the comic world, but I will continue reading.

Grant Morrison just doesn't work for me. Everyone raves about All-Star Superman, and all I could think was meh? It's not a bad story, but even for someone who hasn't read a lot of Supe stories, I felt like I was reading something I've read before. I am also not a fan of Morrison's love for the silver age. I felt that he tries to take these goofy ideas and make them fit in a more serious piece, but this never works for me. Alas! I'll read volume 2 because I am curious about the ending, but I actually liked the new52 stories me than this and that's saying something :l
