I am late to the Fraction fan club, but still here I am. I loved his storytelling in Sex Criminals, so I looked forward to see his take on an Avenger. And in Hawkeye he gives us the least remarkable Avenger, who always seems to be in trouble. Mostly because he is really impulsive and doesn't seem to think about consequences. And it's really fun to read about it.

Aw, Hawkeye.

Oh Clint. Always getting yourself hurt. But Kate Bishop is amazing.

Bro. I started watching the new Hawk Guy series on Disney+ and was reminded of this great arc from Fraction and Aja, bro.

When I give it five stars just for Kate then what? Huh? What r u going to do Clinton? Cry? Jk comic Clint supremacy :’-) I love that man! But on the real the fact that this includes Young Avengers Presents #6 does really just add to it, Kate Bishop girly-girl I love you I love you I love you I DO!

Okay, confession time. I'm one of those assholes that scoffs at the Avengers and pokes fun at Hawkeye and Black Wids. But it's mostly a fun ribbing, since it's SO easy to do. Matt Fraction was at Brisbane's Writers Festival last September and he was so interesting that I decided I'd put aside my teasing and get to know Hawkeye a little better. I love this series. Hawkeye, a.k.a Clint, is not really your typical Avenger. He's basically Archer, which is awesome. It's funny and action packed and A LOT silly. I'm less interested in Kate - the Young Avenger incarnation of Hawkeye - but that's mostly because I don't really enjoy the Young Avengers (and the additional crossover issue of Young Avengers/Hawkeye really proved that). If you're looking for a new series to follow and you're a fan of sharp, sarcastic and brilliantly writing and illustrations, then Hawkeye is the one for you.

It was fine. I liked the first stories, but I didn't like the last one. It was very meh. Just didn't enjoy it. I'd like to read more from David Aha, though, cause I liked his art style. And Hawkeye seemed more fun with him.

4.5 So great, so original!!

3.5 stars

The cover and title really drew me in, but the art and plots inside didn't keep my attention as much as I had hoped. I did enjoy the repetition of "This doesn't look very good" at the beginning of each volume and the banter between Hawkeye and his teammate Kate. I think I may be missing out a little as I'm a newbie to traditional super hero 'verse, so some of the back story wasn't as clear to me. I did like it enough to order Volume 2.

I can acknowledge that this is good, it just wasn't my cup of tea, which is why 3 stars. A middle ground that takes into account both my likes and the quality of book. There were points where I did chuckle a bit, but overall I found it hard to keep my attention towards this book.

Oh, Clint Barton. You adorable, awkward, totally kick-ass man, you! I'm so glad that my co-worker convinced me to read this! What does Hawkeye do when he's not with the Avengers? That's what this book sets out to show, and it does an excellent job. First off, Matt Fraction's writing is superb. He gives Clint this perfect balance between sarcastic and sweet. It's hard not to fall head over heels in love with him. Watching him put on himself on the line for other people, lament the fact that he has no actual superpowers, and flirt awkwardly with Kate Bishop was all kinds of fun. I cracked up laughing more than once at the things that come out of this man's mouth. He really needs a better filter. In terms of art, it's pure perfection here! It's not the most crisp art ever, and it has the tendency to be a bit duochrome, but it suits the story just fine. I especially loved all the panels where pizza dog made his debut! It's impressive that these amazing illustrators were able to bring an entire story line to life with nothing but wordless panels. LOVE!

It lost two stars cause that final installment was super confusing... I think it was from before the first issue and yet was completely different and I'm totally lost...

This was interesting but it took me a while to get used to Clint as he is very different from the MCU version. I do love Kate but I loved her in the Young Avengers too. Art style is quite classic comic style but worked well for the atmosphere.

All of Matt Fraction's Hawkeyes are definitely the best marvel comics I've read, even when its mostly Clint or mostly Kate, or when they're together, it's just such an enjoyable thing to read. And so, so underrated.
