Took me yonks to get through this which I think ruined the reading experience. Also a bit confused about the witch trial part but I’m sure it will make more sense in the future!!!

Apart from that, another good read!

Although it took me around 8 months to read, I’m so thrilled with the end of this book. Life kind of got in the way, but I locked in while reading it this past month. SJM has such an amazing talent for writing an action packed ending that just wrecks you. I found Aelin’s story to be so inspiring. I love seeing her take control of the fire within her (no pun intended), and use it to her will. I don’t know how I feel about the witches storyline - I think I’ll have to read more to figure out how I feel about it. Overall, SJM has done it again. Can’t wait for the next installment ❤️‍🔥

There were so many parts of this book that I loved. Cealena finally accepting herself flaws and all, accepting her role in the war and being queen. I love the witches plot line and can’t wait to see where she takes it. Like always SJM really comes through with the action in the last few chapters leaving my jaw dropped. I can’t wait to read the next one!

It only took me a little over 1.5 years but i finished! I think with the way I absolutely crushed through the first 2 books of the series and then "Assassin's Blade" -- broke me. I do regret taking so long to finish bc wow it was so good?? As per usual in this series so far. I can't count how many times I needed Chaol to just NOT SPEAK. Bc there is power in SHUTTING TF UP. ANYWAY...im on my way to the next book 🙏

Adored the sneak peeks into Aelin’s past, her story is slowly making more sense. Not too sure about Rowan so far, i’m intrigued but i’m not obsessed yet.

This has been my least favorites in the series so far, but the last 15% of the book really carried the plot. 2/3 of this book was either training or learning (not so surprising) intel. The intro to the witches was fun but I thought most of their story was bland with just learning about the wyvern. The Rifthold boy chapters were also fairly dull with miscommunication all over the place. And Celaena’s training was very repetitive to me. I didn’t really come around to Rowan until the very end of the book, so all of their relationship building was a bit cringe for me. Very excited to hopefully get some more page-turning plot in the next book.

Sarah J. Maas has done an incredible job with Heir of Fire, and this book has been my favourite in the series so far. The protagonist embarks on a journey that is not only physical but also deeply internal. Above all, such a journey can transform a person forever—just as it did for Celaena.

Sent to Wendlyn as the King’s Champion to assassinate the royal family—thanks to Chaol’s misguided good intentions—Celaena finds herself lost and powerless, unable even to consider carrying out her mission. Before this, the once formidable girl from Adarlan, who seemed so strong, made a blood oath, but soon after, she succumbs to grief and despair, losing herself completely. From that moment on, her journey becomes one of self-discovery and the struggle to rise again—if she can.

This book ended superbly. I wish the rest of it had been as enjoyable to read. The shifts in perspective made it oddly-paced and the boring parts were a STRUGGLE to get through. The whole will-they-won't-they with Rowan was agonizing, Chaol's and Dorian's parts were so dull until the finale, and Manon was just not interesting. On the whole, however, I'm loving how Calaena's/Aelin's character trajectory has progressed, I enjoyed seeing all the flashbacks into her deep past, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.
