First published in 1892 and staged in 1893, The Master Builder is one of the most significant works of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, about the tragic confrontation between Halvard Solness, a successful architect living in a small town in Norway, and his past, his fantasies and his fears embodied in the character of Hilde Wangel and in his own work.
