An exploration of R. Eric Thomas' life from childhood on as he worked to reconcile various aspects of life-and himself-that were important to him. The book is laugh out loud funny and poignant and I enjoyed it a lot.

I got some good laugh out loud moments out of this. It did a good job off feeling sincere but balancing the more emotional parts with humor

The thing is, a catastrophic end to the world as we know it sounds like a lame experience. I am not interested in the least. It's scary, yes, but mostly dumb. And the way we've been taught to think about it is so improbable. We are not going to band together and listen to a bunch of sci- entists to save humanity like Jake Gyllenhaal in a disaster movie. Sorry You know how I know? Because a bunch of scientists are telling us how to save the world right now, and half the world isn't listening to them.

When the fact of your being is used as a weapon against you, the process of relearning who you are and what your value is, is a long one. I don't know that Ill ever be finished.
