I honestly can't remember much about what happens in this book. I had never read anything by Paulo Coelho (I know it's a big shock since almost every single person has read The Alchemist). I was just constantly hearing that he was not that good of a writer and to be honest I only picked this up because it was for free at the library and the cover was super cute. 

I do remember that this was told in the first person by Paulo Coelho about his adventures as a younger boy, in the time of the hippie generation. Right away we know the book is going to be about this big trip that he embarks on. He mainly describes all of these awesome places that he got to visit and how he eventually got to know this dutch girl named Karla and how together they got into The Magic Bus in a journey towards Nepal. Overall it was fun especially if you are curious about the hippie movement and the Woodstock years like I'm. I do admit though that it is not something that will particularly change your life.

Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian novelist, mostly known for writing inspiring and spiritual books. And don't mind but his books are anything but spiritual and inspiring, and if you feel otherwise please don't read this, chances that we might disagree. 

So this story is supposed to be an autobiography, but I think it should be a travel blog on some newspaper's weekly edition. Because it's basically about Coelho's journey to Kathmandu in a "Magic Bus" where he goes by singing and dancing on Hare Krishna and sufi dance "Dervish." 

Not to be mean or anything but I don't like his stories, like The Alchemist was overrated but I gave him another chance with this one but he continues to be a disappointment. And what's his issues with "spiritual journey", "soul of the universe", "nectar of gods", and "free love" and his love for DRUGS. He honestly writes like he is high on some drugs talking about Sun God, Krishna and Sufisim in a single book. 

Dude was like, "here have a joint, also wanna read about naked people in a river by mountainside, read my autobiography." He sounds like that colony wale retire uncle who has zero concept of reality and gives zero fucks about you and tells his Jawaani ke Qisse for the nth time.

Coelho is the textbook defination of anti-nihilist and anti-absurdist, dude finds meaning in literally EVERYTHING. There are mountains, let's make a circle on top of it and dance so that God would see us more clearly. There's fire, let's dance around it in a circle, so that God will remove negativity and empty our hearts. Dude give God a break. There is absolutely no ups and downs, just this stupid talk about finding wisdom in India and realities and more drugs. I sincerely wish he actually for once visit India, he will be tremendously disappointed, like he left Sufisim.

Kindest request don't pick this book even when you have been a fan of Paulo, it is not something out of box, 4 lines from Geeta, 4 lines from Sufisim and tried to explain over the period of 287 pages, this whole book is like Indian roads, full of potholes.

Immer wenn ein neuer Coehlo auf den Markt kommt, eile ich dem Buch entgegen und kann es kaum erwarten es zu lesen. Coelho hat eine besondere Gabe Geschichten zu erzählen, die ich bei keinem anderen Autor bislang entdeckt habe.
Diesmal erhielt ich ein Rezensionsexemplar von Vorablesen, wofür ich mich bedanken möchte.

Meine Vorfreude auf das Buch wurde nach nur wenigen Seiten zur puren Enttäuschung. Ich konnte keinen roten Faden erkennen, die Erzählform von der wechselten dritten Person gefiel mir nicht und das Buch wirkte unruhig auf mich.
Coehlo legt sich nicht fest nur Romane zu verfassen, sondern teilt auch gerne sein Wissen, welches er auf all seinen Reisen gesammelt hat, mit seinen Lesern und verfasst auch mal eine Art Handbuch/Ratgeber.
Hier, fehlte mir selbst das. Die besondere Atmosphäre die seine Bücher ausmacht fehlt komplett.
Ich kann nur hoffen, dass sein nächsters Buch wieder an seine vorherigen wundervollgen Geschichten anknüpfen wird.
