His & Hers A Novel
Reviews

Alice Feeney can do no wrong! I haven’t read anything from her that I didn’t love. I never ever see the twist coming even when I think I have it all figured out!

oh my god i thought i knew who the murderer was, but i was wrong until it was revealed at the very end.

when i tell you i was SHOCKED …

holy shit im once again falling into the habit of reading trashy books as a way to cope w the depressing reality of life. great! i think you can only like or fall in love w this book if this is ur intro to alice feeney me personally ive read rock, paper and scissors and think the ending was a complete snooze. the multiple suspects aspect also kinda bored me cos i dont like going back and forth bw trusting-not trusting a character more than twice too it kinda just tired me out by the time the actual killer was revealed

There are at least two sides to every story; yours and mine, ours and theirs, his and hers. I always prefer my own. This was way more disturbing than I thought would be, but I liked the writing style because it kept me guessing who the liar is. The plot twist was unexpected, but somehow it didn’t make any sense? However, I still enjoyed the concept because it differentiates the plot from other mystery-thrillers that i’ve read so far.

what the helllllllllll

I loved how this book had a plot twist in practically every chapter and the 3 different POVs-including the killer’s. The big reveal at the end was absolutely unexpected even when I thought I knew who it was.

4.5 stars and not 5 just because I guessed the ending, but I really enjoyed the kourney! Everyone in that book was a turd but not so unliekable that I didn't enjoy reading it, so it wasa good balance.

Honestly, unexpected. Totally unexpected 😭😭

⭐️2.5-3 My thoughts on this book are limited. I thought the his/hers narrative style that Alice Feeney used was very enjoyable. This is because we as readers are continually guessing and trying to piece together clues and pieces that could ultimately prove Jack or Anna responsible for the murders. In addition, I enjoyed the mysterious, creepy, unidentified third voice/individual that occasionally appeared every few chapters. This added another layer of distrust, uneasiness, and wariness to the main characters, Anna and Jack. While I liked these aspects of the book, I found myself zoning out and uninterested in continuing to read it. This is especially true since most of the characters were downright unlikable, disturbing, and just plain odd. I wasn't that surprised by the 'twists' (except the actual reveal of the mastermind behind the murders, which was convenient and a little strange), especially when we are introduced to one of Anna's old classmates, Catherine. The storyline and relevance of her character were predictable. Despite all this, the book is perfectly fine. This book isn't better than Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney, as I love a domestic thriller/mystery, and, while the twists are ridiculously convenient, this is an adequate read if you're after a fast-paced, alternating dual POV adult thriller.

I lived the twists and turns this story took. It is double POV (3 really but you don’t know who the third POV is). I feel like a few things could’ve been different and there seems like there’s a few things that didn’t really get tied up nicely. Anyhow I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I was sure I knew who the murderer was about 3/4 of the way through the book, changed my mind 3 times and still didn't get it right. Alice Feeney is so good at misdirection. Loved this book!

Alice feeney does it again. I SWORE I know what would happen and then I was shocked and then I was reallllly shocked. I’m working my way through her backlist and loving every second of it because this author has some serious talent. Creepy but incredible, wouldn’t recommend reading it alone if you’re a scaredy cat like me because that ending was dark but man I loved it.

** spoiler alert ** 4.5 i dunno why but when they refer to each other as ‘ex-wife’. & ‘ex-husband’,,, it just gives me a buzz,,,,,,,,, def in my list of my fave mystery thriller reads this year,,, (tw: sexual assault, sexual abuse & animal cruelty)

Wow. This was SO good. I listened to the audiobook and that creepy voice gave me chills (which I love). I really liked sometimes I lie by Alice feeney but this was so much better. I highly recommend this for anyone that likes thrillers.

Solid thriller. Figured out a few of the twists early, but still enjoyed the red herrings and seeing exactly how it would shake out

Solid thriller for sure. The 4th start is for the phenomenal narration. I thought I had it all figured out about 60% of the way. I was 100% mistaken in the best way possible. There is a sense of urgency in this book that I haven't gotten from other thrillers in a long time. Probably the serial killer-ish aspect of it. The author definitely keeps you on your toes and the three POVs - his, hers, and the killer's had me crazy and paranoid.

Alice Feeney does it again. Anna Andrews has lost everything except her job. Jack Harper has gone through a divorce and is living where he grew up. The link between them? A murdered woman named Rachel. Based on the premise that there are two sides to a story, His and Hers alternates between the POV of Anna and Jack. It's got a creepy atmosphere, lots of twists, and I did NOT guess the ending. Alice Feeney is the queen of the unreliable narrator and this is no exception. It was a great ride.

I really thought this would be an easy case to solve when I picked up this book. But this case had different kinds of clues that left me second minding me countless of times. I like that! Anna Andrews and Jack Harper are the main characters of this book. They share a history together and also something way before they were even married. I didn't think much of it as in why they the author decided to write about the past. It's all became relevant towards the very end and that was like a WOW for me. The structure of how this book is set up is indeed well thought out. It didn't leave me bored nor it felt that it was being dragged out like in some other thriller novels. It felt unique and down right cynical. A great book to read if you into that lol. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I kept reading it even though I said to myself, "Just one more chapter." lol. I definitely enjoyed this here and I would recommend anyone who's looking for a good thriller/ mystery. I would like to thank Netgalley and Flatiron Books for an e-arc copy of His & Hers in exchange for an honest review.

*sigh* One of those exhausting "thrillers" which makes you want to rethink reading the genre. Not a single likeable character, everyone is a suspect and I didn't honestly care about any of it. The beginning was so slow I had to come here and read some reviews to understand why this had 4+ stars. It picks up later on but the only reason to read it is to find out what happens in this mess. Too many erratic red herrings and a ridiculous story when it comes down to it. Don't.

3.85 ⭐ Oh boy. This is something to talk about. 5-6 chapters in & i was intrigued. There's a murder and a murderer's monologue already by chapter 2-3. Let's talk about the main characters whose povs r what u get to see- Jack, whom I liked then i disliked and then liked again a bit. This went on throughout the novel and then Anna, for whom I had no feelings whatsoever, like i didn't know what opinion i had of her. By ch 10, the plot is so intriguing & keeps you at the edge. When the novel was drawing to an end, so MUCH action was taking place I wasn't even able to keep up. Every single one was a suspect in my eyes and i really couldn't predict anything that happened. The last few chapters blew me honestly. I did have trouble with the long descriptions of both the characters, esp Anna, talking about her feelings about the smallest things. Then there's one death that felt unnecessary, yeah that part of the plot was important for us to not suspect the real murderer but still! That person & the other one who died along with them, it was just unjustified & that makes me restless (I don't like deaths that have no meaning, like i really felt sorry for that person). But i can understand y Alice had to do that, still can't help me feel better about it. Also, the person who did turn out to be the murderer, I am sorry but I honestly find it hard to believe. Yes there was motive & i also did suspect them BUT it's just...all the gruesome ways the murders happened it was hard to picture them doing it honestly. A solid novel with a suspenseful air nonetheless, and it will keep your head spinning till the very end. Also, there's some shady stuffs like description of sexual harrasment & all that so look out for em before u strt this.

Damn, what did I just read? This was a wild ride! Deducting one star cuz some parts of the book truly disturbed me and I was left feeling uncomfortable for quite a while; it was unsettling. This book should come with all sorts of trigger warnings. The end at each chapter always kept you guessing; I was suspecting 4 people at the same time and my mind was shuffling between suspecting a different one after every chapter. The narrator's POV reveals nothing and keeps you hooked and guessing till the end. I thought it was very well written. I saw some of the twists coming but I was not prepared for that last one. I am not the kind of person who will give a fewer stars just because I managed to guess the twists from a mile away. It doesn't mean the writing is suggestive of it, I just suspect everyone and it isn't the author's fault. Alice Feeney's writing is captivating as usual. Brilliant storytelling and truly the queen of twists. Also, I can't wait to see how the tv show pans out!
