I first I didn't really like this book, but then I got into a little more, and then I couldn't put it down, but it still wasn't fantastic. I felt like there was way to much character development - which is kind of understandable since it's a series- but sometimes I just found it to drag the book down. Otherwise, I did really like the tongue-in-cheek story, and how it mocked what it was. There was also clever parallels to Dracula and the historical aspect was very interesting too. I will probably continue to read the series for now.

I just could not get into this book. I didn't care about the characters. It was a total chore to read this book. I'm glad I finally finished so I can move onto something that is hopefully more interesting.

Southern Today Gone Tomorrow

Written by Meg Cabot, this is another book that takes an old story and twists it. Sometimes these are done well, sometimes they are not. Insatiable is twist on/based on Dracula by Bram Stoker. In this instance Meena (remember Mina and Jonathan Harper from Dracula?) knows how people will die, though not necessarily when. Except for vampires, because they are already dead. What happens when she meets Lucien, the Price of Darkness, and Dracula's son. Oh, and Dracula is dead. And the Paladin, the long dead super soldiers of the Vatican, hunt them.

If you do not like re-imagining of stories/books DO NOT READ THIS. You will be angry the whole time, annoyed by the changes that she made. 

If you do not like romance, DON'T READ THIS. If you don't like vampire stories DON'T READ THIS. If you don't like characters not behaving the way you want them to, DO NOT READ THIS.

That being said, I enjoyed it. I have enjoyed most of Meg Cabot's books, I grew up on her young adult novels. I loved Lucien. Meena fell to the normal level of Cabot's female leads, which is to say that she was a little dramatic. The exceptions for these have included Avalon High, Jinx, 1-800-Where-Are-You, and the Mediator series. But a lot of the others have females that are so very dramatic. Might just be me, but they get a little annoying.

That was a fun re-read. It took me a while to get through the audiobook, because it was really long, but I still really enjoyed it.
I don't remember how I felt about this book the first time I read it, but I think, as with all Meg Cabot's books, that it is a great read.
The story and plot are actually really interesting, and there's that characteristic humor and romance you come to expect from her books.
The difference with this one is that it features adult characters and themes (nothing too explicit, like some her other adult novels, though!)
I recommend this one if you like Meg Cabot and/or chick lit, and even if you think you don't like vampires - I really like her take on them - traditional vampires, but not a typical vampire story in any way. 
Now that I remember what happen (since I read it the first time so long ago in 2010), I can finally read the sequel!

Alors que Meena s’approche de la vérité, sa loyauté est mise à l’épreuve, ses sentiments sont dévoilés et elle doit affronter d’irrésistibles tentations. Cette fois Meena pourrait bien avoir été trop ambitieuse...
