Nice twist! Good characters.

I feel like I'm late to the game on James Patterson. I've tried reading him before but have always put him back down. For some reason, Michael Bennett kept me reading. He's a cop, Catholic, a father of ten children... what's not to love? "Detective Michael Bennett is about to take on the most sinister challenge of his career. The nation has fallen into mourning after the unexpected death of a beloved former first lady, and the most powerful people in the world gather in New York for her funeral. Then the inconceivable occurs. Billionaires, politicians, and superstars of every kind are suddenly trapped within one man's brilliant and ruthless scenario. Bennett--father of ten--is pulled into the fray." The back and forth between different perspectives was at first confusing, but I got the hang of it towards the end. Like most books in this genre, its all so unbelievable - but it pulled me in and I like it for what it is. There have been a few reviews where I have read people complain about the short chapters. For me, I appreciate shorter chapters or mid-chapter breaks with the books I read that I know are more "fluff" in nature. It makes it easier for me to pick them up and put them back down. I've already read the 2nd book in this series (equally unbelievable plot) and plan to read the next. Embrace this series for what it for what it is. My Ratings: 5*****I loved this book, consider it an all time favorite 4**** Thoroughly enjoyed the book and will recommend it 3*** I liked it well enough, 2** Brain Candy - It was okay. Writing mediocre, will keep/re-read if part of a series 1* didn't like/possibly not finished. (less)
