4 stars just for tink, I love him so much

Since this is a series this review will probably be shorter than other reviews because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. This book picks right back up where book one leaves off. I was absolutely torn, sorry I had to while reading this book. We pick up right where we left off in book one of this series. I don’t really want to go into too much detail because I don’t want to give anything away. Overall, I enjoyed this book as book number two in the series. I loved getting to know a little bit more about the Fae as well as the relationship between Ivy and Rem. Ivy really won me over in this one. She is such a strong and selfless person and I wish I had an ounce of her bravery. She is true to herself and will fight back to anyone doing harm to her or the ones she loves. Unbelievably stubborn and hardheaded she will do what she thinks is right no matter the consequences just to keep others safe. Ren is still unbelievably delicious and head over heels in love with Ivy. No matter what she does or who she is, he just can't help himself when it comes to her. I somehow fell even more in love with Tink and his antics. His is so freaking funny and the things that come out of his mouth astound me. Anytime he said anything I was smiling or laughing. I honestly don't know how Jennifer Armentrout does it. I am continually amazed by her writing and the stories that she comes up with. 

Another solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐ star read!

Finished book 2 of the wicked trilogy and I loved it. Having to read what Ivy went through with the prince made me mad because ugh! You ever just wanna reach into a book and hurt the characters upsetting or hurting the main/favorite character? Yeah that happened with me. I wanted to so bad just so she didn’t have to go through what she went through. Ivy is a halfling and if the fae get their hands on her it could mean devastation for the world as we know it. To open the gates to the other world permanently a fae has to have a child with a halfling. Ivy has to avoid being caught because the prince knows what she is. She can barely come to terms with it herself; she doesn’t expect anyone else will be ok with it if she told them what she was. Man reading how ivy is captured hurt and made me mad! 5 stars 10/10 would totally read again and recommend it

The book picks up right after the end of Wicked. Ivy struggles with the truth of her identity, she’s the Halfling, and now that she’s part of the evil prince’s plan to create an “apocalypse baby” to open the gates to the Faery world permanently, she has to figure out what to do. 

I love how Ivy refuses to be seen as weak, it was an emotional ride. I liked the internal struggle within Ivy to tell the truth to Ren of what she is.

I really enjoyed Ivy being kidnapped by The Prince and giving up her freedom to save Ren. I also liked seeing her break apart but not showing it to her captors and how she almost lost hope from Ren and Tink. It was really emotional to see her like that. (hide spoiler)]

If you have already read my review of “Wicked” then you may remember that Ivy’s story ended with a life changing revelation that also put a major roadblock in her relationship with Ren.

“Torn” basically picks up right where “Wicked” ended. This book felt much more fast paced than the first and had me on an emotional rollercoaster for most of the book. Jennifer Armentrout put Ivy through a LOT in this book. I have a feeling that Ivy will still be processing and dealing with the trauma of her captivity through a good portion of Book 3. Nonetheless I loved the fact that despite Ivy generally being a kick ass character Jennifer Armentrout did not hesitate to show her struggling and falling apart in this book. As a reader, I’ve seen too many authors choose to have their main character simply bounce back right away from a traumatic experience. In my opinion, that just makes the character and story seem less realistic.

Another aspect of the book that I enjoyed was watching Ren and Ivy’s relationship evolve. I appreciated the fact that Ivy chose to reveal her secret to Ren pretty early on in the story and also decided against breaking up with him. I always hate it when the standard response to a fictional character’s relationship problem is to have the characters avoid one another and/or break up. Open and honest communication is such an important part of any relationship so I love seeing it presented as such in the books that I read.

In terms of villains, I think Jennifer Armentrout did a great job of making me thoroughly hate the Prince. He’s so twisted and sadistic. While reading this book I never knew what horrible thing he would come up with for Ivy. I really hope he gets his comeuppance in the last book.

Overall, I can’t really find a negative thing to say about this book. In “Torn” Jennifer Armentrout continues to flesh out the history of the Fae and the Order as well as Ivy and Ren’s relationship. In my opinion, this is a 5 out of 5 book and definitely worth reading. I for one can’t wait to see what happens next.

This series is so fun and I really enjoyed the direction it took the story. I got my fae fix, Ren is as sexy and heroic as ever, Ivy is just doing her best y’all, Tink steals the show, and we learn quite a bit more about the world of the fae.

Definitely looking forward to jumping into the final book!
