i actually am surprised by how much i enjoyed this novel. when i picked it up, rachel was like 'that's a kids' book'. not that books meant for kids can't be good! just that i guess we weren't sure how applicable it would be to a twenty-two year old.
it was a charming story. i really loved how it was both magical and not; that reality was suspended. even until the end, you weren't completely sure - the lines seemed to blur a little. i liked how at its core, it was a story about a girl and her deepest fear - something all of us have. it was about family and how our parents can be so cruel to us sometimes, and how as adults, we have the power to be kind to younger ones, even if we don't fully understand the things they do sometimes. 
i really did adore this book.
