And how soft and lovely the light streaming through this living ceiling, revealing the arching branching ribs and veins of the fronds as the framework of countless panes of pale green and yellow plant-glass nicely fitted together-a fairyland created out of the commonest fern-stuff.

the prose was gorgeous, but that’s all this really had going for it. im not rlly that interested in environmental lit of this caliber, and i just cannot be bothered to enjoy 150 pages of this man detailing all the trees and flowers he saw. loved the dog tho. ❤️
