I really like the new take on old characters. The flashbacks dispersed throughout the volume were interesting and although I don’t understand everything yet, it has me intrigued and I want to know more. The end section to the special anniversary edition was a great addition and I’m assuming is a little bridge between the first volume and the Hellmouth event (crossover between Buffy and angel). I’m excited to see how Angel and Buffy first meet in this new comic and if it parallels at all to the original show. Personally I didn’t think the main villain in this volume was particularly complex, however they were very timely. Just like in the first volume of the new Buffy series the themes and choices made concerning characteristic changes for certain characters added a more diverse and fresh take to the story. I can’t wait to read more.
