I honestly really liked this book, it was funny, intriguing and I can't wait to read the next one.

Ok I always feel like I need to defend myself when I really like books like this one (KU smutty reads are one of my many guilty pleasures) but honestly? this one is genuinely such a fun read. There actually wasn’t any explicit spice (disappointing, I know), but it was absolutely full of lovable characters. Every one of the characters already has a piece of my heart - sarcastic assholes who don’t know when to be quiet are everyone’s weakness - and there’s an actually interesting plot happening. Can I also just take a moment to talk about the author’s world building?? I honestly love the little references to the universe and the fact that at no point was there an excessive dump of information. While the whole structure of the world is never explicitly explained, there are so many references woven in that you can get a feeling for otherness of this universe without getting overwhelmed. I for one am loving the new take on powers and demigods. That being said, obviously there’s the usual “not like everyone else” vibes of literally all the main characters (I think it’s becoming a pet peeve of mine, give me more stories about people with boring lives) but there’s also so much potential for other plot lines to develop with the other characters that I don’t mind it too much. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and easy read to absolutely speed through (effortlessly read through this in a day, people) - and get ready to read the whole series!!

loving KF Breene's writing more and more each time! this story will keep you hooked for sure. I loved the sexiness of the story and the plot itself. Totally character driven!

Do you know that feeling when you finish a great book, and you want to dive immediately into the next one but can’t? That’s the anguish I’m feeling right now, friends. I loved SIN & CHOCOLATE! While this first book isn’t as smutty as A Ruin of Roses—which I expected, given that this is a longer series—it’s no less entertaining, and the feels are all there! This book was funny, sexy and entirely emotional. Once again, the author found the perfect balance between world-building and plot. I adore her take on Greek Mythology and the way she wove it into something completely new and original within the larger frame of the magical and human factions of her San Francisco. The characters, however, were my favorite thing about this book. The found family dynamic between Alexis, Mordecai and Daisy stole my heart and took me through all the feelings in the feelings spectrum. It was such a wholesome and hilarious group—my favorite kind! I’m also really intrigued by the romance between Kieran and Alexis. Theirs is an instant attraction followed by curiosity, antagonism, forced proximity and slow-building tension—all of my favorite things! I have a feeling when the sparks truly fly between them, it’s going to be absolutely epic! In the meantime, I’m fully on board with this ship already. I loved them as individual characters as well. Alexis is my brand of strong and sassy, while Kieran is the kind of protective alphahole that I just love to read about. Also, he’s Irish. Literally, that made my entire life. Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. All opinions are my own.

Hello, and welcome to my new favorite found family! Sin & Chocolate was amazing for many things, but what I loved above all else is Alexis and her teen wards, Daisy and Mordecai. The three of them are a nice unit and who have each other’s backs. Daisy is witty and resourceful (and I hear she’ll be getting a series all of her own which makes me very excited!), and Mordecai is a sweet cinnamon bun with a lot of alpha potential who must be protected at all costs. Yeah, they were definitely my favorites in this book. Alexis was an amazing protagonist. Having read Breene’s A Ruin of Roses , I recognized the author’s sass seeping through the pages and giving voice to her protagonist who’s both smart and hilarious. I was also very intrigued by the mystery of her powers, given that she’s mistakenly convinced that they’re nothing special, and also by the whole Ghost Whisperer aspect. Ghost Whisperer is also a show I used to be obsessed with, so imagine my delight when I saw that Alexis could actually talk to ghosts. As for Kieran, I appreciated his step-back from the typical alpha-hole character. He admits his flaws and wants to be the best version of himself, and he does so without losing that touch of dominance that I love in a supernatural love interest. I’m so excited to continue this series and see where the story leads! Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of book 1. Opinions are my own.

Honestly I went into this book hoping I’d like it and expecting not too but then I started reading it and fell in love with Alexis, Kieran, Daisy, and Mordecai. It’s a nice quick read and the world is a nice mix of urban fantasy. The writing is so good and the chemistry between Alexis and Kieran is something highly enjoy!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed below belong entirely to me. I am a huge fan of K.F. Breene's Deliciously Dark Fairytales series, so I was super excited to give this one a try! My biggest takeaway was the intriguing nature of Alexis' powers and the slowburn build between her and Kieran was fabulous. I read the audiobook version and really enjoyed it, especially the found-family relationship between Alexis and the two teenagers she protects as her wards. The nonstop Lord of the Rings references were greatly appreciated!! I'll definitely be continuing with this series.

Rating: 2.5 I’m gonna be honest… I liked it but not enough to sit through 5 more books because the only moments I actually gave two shits about were Kieran and Alexis’ interactions and banter. This was kinda slow and I get that it’s just the set up but I also find myself getting annoyed with the way some dialogues were. I’m torn. Maybe I’ll give the second book a chance but I just don’t know.

3.5/5 It was good but not the best. I’m intrigued to see on how it continues.

4.5 ⭐️ absolutely loved the characters and whole setup of this book, amazingly well done and i really thought it was so easy to get absorbed into, i NEED to get the second book already!!

Rating: 4 stars! Ok but can we talk about this worldddd. This is such a different take on all the magic stuff and paranormal worlds and I LOVE IT. Why didn't I start this sooner? This book has been on my tbr for MONTHS. This is my first KF Breene book and I have no idea why I havent read any other books by her. This was a good start to this series and I cannot wait to see more from this world!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Women don’t say no to me, Alexis,” he said, his tone smooth and decadent, like rich chocolate. “They say please.” This book was a blast from the start, Lexi is a fun, witty, sassy heroine who you cant help but instantly love. She has had a tough life and has learnt to live with very little, just keeping herself and her wards alive. Struggling to hold down a job, living between the crack of magical and non-magical societies, she has nothing but her family and her relatively unexplored magic. In strolls a swoon-worthy demigod, Kieran and her life is turned completely upside down. Kieran is your typical male alpha-hole, but I adored him! Definitely up there with one of my favourite book boyfriends! There is more to the storyline than you expect, no huge plot twists but you can feel throughout this book that it is building into something more, and the series has a lot more to come. Will i be reading the rest of the series...?.....Damn right I will, and I cant wait! Plot - 5/5 Character Development - 5/5 Pacing - 5/5 Escapism Factor - 5/5 Emotional Connection - 5/5 Smut -🔥🔥🔥

I love a good urban fantasy. Also, if you're in this for the smut, you're going to be very disappointed in this first book. The chemistry between the two main characters is off the charts, thought. I love their romance, and I love the 'found family' trope. I can't wait to see where this goes.

This book tickled my jellies. It's definitely a slower burn than most romances, but the romance has a lot of promise. The character development and world-building were very well done. I loved how the ghosts were portrayed, and how Alexis didn't take any crap, especially from Kieran. I think my favorite character is Daisy, though.

Amazing first entry into a magical new world! The paranormal romance genre is definitely a flooded one, but this new story by K.F. Breene totally stands out from the crowd. Alexis is one of the magical beings living in San Francisco. In this version of the world, the magical beings are out in the open and have their own part of town. The non magical humans, or Chesters, have their own part as well and Alexis lives in the cracks between. She has taken in a magical shifter boy and a non magical human girl, saving them both from what would have been death or at the very least horrible lives. Alexis is getting by in life; flying under the radar, until she runs into Keiran, or rather he nearly runs her over! Leave it to K.F. Breene not to just give us the typical werewolves, vampires, or angels... she gives us Demigods and Keiran is an especially delicious Demigod. Alexis and Keiran absolutely smolder. This story was, by turns, scorching hot and hilariously funny. Alexis is no pushover and Keiran, being what he is, is so wonderfully Alpha, and when they clash, there's definitely sparks. I can't adequately explain how awesome this book is. As I was reading through, I kept watching the percentage I had left to read getting lower and lower; I couldn't stop wanting to know what came next but I didn't want the story to be over! I hope the next book comes quickly! I only wish more of the story had been written from Keiran's perspective as well, I can only imagine what awesomeness was going on in his head.
