I've read this book so many times since my childhood, and it remains to be one of my favourites. A family curse, a quest around Scotland, and all the fantasy elements it includes (no spoilers here) makes it a fun story to return to every time. This book is also where my love for Mary Queen of Scots started, and if this author every wrote anything similar I would absolutely be picking it up!
