This book was disappointing, it started off with the characters regressing which was annoying because that was the only redeeming quality about book 2. I skimmed the last half of this book because I just didn't care about the characters anymore. There was a lot going on that was rushed to the point events should have been excluded. The ending was unique but just depressing (no HEA here). I won't be reading whatever they are releasing this spring because the authors weren't able to make me care about a single character in the end. Don't recommend this series.

This was very middle of the road fantsy read for me. I went into this series without any expectations, thankfully. 
What I liked about the book: how close the FMC was with her bestie and considered her as family. The broody MMC love interest. The attempt at bringing the fantasy world into the 21st century. They finally got together and had sex. 

Where it fell short: first and foremost, some of the words used were very cringey- she continuous called the MMC a “bad boy” and the descriptions of her friend have big boobs. And some of the banter was just…cringe. I feel like the characters lacked depth and the main character was bland. The villian wasn’t destroyed, instead a deal was struck that was just not really good.

           My thoughts as I read

- what made Alli think Rubezahl would not notice 4 assassins sneaking around his camp when he continuously told Alli in previous book that he could sense Lan sneaking around ?? Especially after she suspiciously asked him to leave the harp and then walk away from it so they could have a chat. Stuupid😪🤦🏻‍♀️

- Adair’s fainting performance cracked me up. It reminded me of those videos where people jump on slowly moving cars to fake an accident 😂😂

- 30% — so where did the oracle disappeared to when you need her the most? And why is no one mentioning her ? Its like she doesn't exist - speaking of the devil

- I do like the whole battle thing going on in Underhill 

- 51% - 10,000 soldiers?? Where did this number come from? How the hell did she manage to open the portal long enough for such army 😂 sure they mentioned they never seen such power but stilll 10k? 

- Kik what a champ 👏🏻

- 58% - I wish we had more POVs especially Lan’s. Like I want to know whats going through his head, especially that trial he had to do by himself 

- 60% - Devon wtf 😩

- life for life? I don't like it. They better find solution — oh yeahhh that device she found, must be it

- theory - Devon or the oracle will sacrifice themselves instead - 78% I feel like Alli is becoming a new Oracle and the current one is training her 👀

So just finished this book and I must say the ending made me quite sad. I mean its a happy ending but them not having children in a future is sad. Im happy with how it all turned out in the end overall. Although im a bit mad we never got more regarding Allis parents. ( I secretly hoped the queen was still alive for half a book. ) Like whats their history? Did they love each other? Or simply decided to have experimental children? And why was her father such a dick to her when she was like the 6th child whos purpose of existing was to defeat evil? And how did Adairs baby survived? We not gonna get explanation? Okok
