As with the first Captain Marvel book, I liked half the art (Dexter Soy's work) and then hated the latter half and the story line is a little lack luster in comparison to the first volume but this still was a thrilling, and rather interesting outing with Carol Danvers as she teams up (quite literally) with former Captain Marvel Monica Rambeau to take on a giant robot, throws down in a dinosaur fight, and fights Deathbird. However, her world is turned upside down when she discovers a tumor in her head could erase her memories if she keeps flying. Considering Carol is a pilot and loves flying, this is pretty traumatic news for her. I really loved how DeConnick balanced the outrageous super-hero antics with the more personal story telling and I really feel like Captain Marvel feels like a real woman and not a cartoony character. The art wasn't great in this and the story meandered a bit but this is still a wonderful run! Can't wait for the movie!
