I want to be her. What a fantastic character

This was a really exciting read. It felt very distinct and I love how strong and intelligent Captain Marvel is! Captain Marvel is a bad ass! This volume, thanks to Kelly Sue DeConnick, has lots of heart...tons of heart in fact but it was done in a refreshing manner. It's not filled with corny romance. It's all about pursuing your dreams! There's plenty of action and humor, but what really comes to the surface is the desire to better one's self and to care for others. Carol Danvers comes across as a genuine character, not just a heavy-hitting former leader of the Avengers (although she's that, too). The script balances Danvers fighting a supervillian, talking with a sick friend and self-reflecting while floating in space. It all works and it creates a complete vision of a woman who is deciding to take the next step in her life. Captain America tells her, “Quit being an adjunct... Take the mantle.” It's a credit to DeConnick's writing skills that when Danvers finally says she's “taking the damn name,” you feel the emotion. This is well-worth your time. Plus, Captain Marvel's powers are amazing! She can fly in space!

This was a blast! It was humorous, full of space adventure, strange creatures, and heart. Before you can blast off into space Captain Marvel, Rocket, and their new alien friend Tic are up to their armpits in Flerken eggs while some bad guys attack their spaceship with the goal of capturing Chewie who will fetch a fortune on the interstellar black market. Carol also gets involved in helping teleporter/rockstar/mutant Lila Cheney get out of an arranged marriage on a planet where everyone speaks in rhymes, and then Carol returns to Earth for a day just in time for Christmas and to say goodbye to a very sick friend. I am just loving these Captain Marvel comics. Hoping Chewie is a Flerken in the film!

A decent and emotional end to DeConnick's run but the secret wars tie in and storytelling just felt a bit all over the place. Still love Captain Marvel though!

Carol Danvers is badass and I can't wait to see her in the big screen. Love the art, the story-line was interesting and that cameo of the Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome!

My last book of 2020! I picked this one up because it was short and I needed to read a book in about 5 hours, but I am happy I got to read this story. I think there were 6 volumes included in this collection and I am so glad because the story arc was completed. I think when it comes to graphic novels, it is so easy for me to get lost. I didn't know much about Captain Marvel and it took me a little to figure out when this story was set and what had happened before. Also, a few bits and pieces confused me, like the people in the mechanical suit on Torfa, I understood who they were just at the end. But the story was good and had few twists, but most importantly I really liked Carol. She is so fun, strong and fierce, I think I will read the next volume as well.

Silly, funny, entertaining. Doesn't require an extensive knowledge of comics to enjoy. Perfect.

Am I going to rave about this just because it is Marvel? Yes. Because I am a trashcan. The characters are BEAUITFUL. the artwork is BEAUTIFUL. the storyline is BEAUTIFUL. and Captain Marvel is BEAUTIFUL. MY QUEEN. MY CAPTAIN. I SALUTE HER. You should totally read this. Because she's fantastic and Marvel is amazing and my heart hurts. Here is some of my favorite lines in the comic: (DISCLAIMER: minor spoilers). "What's restless?" "It's kind of like... It's like when you know you need to do something, but you don't know quite what that something is." "What do you do to make the restless feeling stop?" "You keep searching, until you find out what it is you need to do." ~~ "Have you ever seen a little girl run so fast she falls down? There's an instant, a fraction of a second before the world catches hold of her again... A moment when she's outrun every doubt and fear she's ever had about herself and she flies. In that moment, every little girl flies." ~~ "Little green girl's not a bad tactician." "I'd be tickled if she weren't using her talents to try and murder me." ~~ "Sure am glad you came halfway across the galaxy to tell us that we were doomed." ~~ "Play me something I can dance to."

i don't understand anything about planes but i understand one thing: my love for carol danvers. (also carol and maria are lesbians and in love with each other.)
