I'm not usually one for non fiction. Those who follow me here for a while probably know how rare I get down to reading autobiographies and memoirs and stuff like that. When it came to this memoir, I was really drawn to the almost taboo topic it talks about. 

I was quite surprised to how much I enjoyed the book. Kerry has a voice that really stood out to me. Reading this felt like listening to maybe even confessions of a young, lost girl. It felt intimate and the only thing you could be was sympathetic towards her and her choices.

It was written in a way that read like a novel. I kept wondering what was going to happen to her and what else she'd go through until she maybe came to an epiphany that she should change her ways in order to feel content with her life. And exactly that was my problem. It felt like she was this close to realize that and then all of a sudden she met her husband and everything went fine anyways. There wasn't enough reflection which was really too bad, since it kind of ruined the book for me.

I would recommend this to anyone who's interested in the topic because it really is a good read.

I grabbed this mainly because who doesn't like horny chicks? I was disappointed to find it swathed in pop psychology, and despite what she says at the end about a prince on a white horse riding in to save her thats exactly how it reads. She gives up her whoring ways when she finds a man who can handle her need and insecurity. if not gives up, at least sets it to the backburner. 

we're likely to see a second book "Loose Girl 2: looser, and older" because she never seemed to really get to the core of her need. She doesn't seem to have the philosophical tools to decode it and as sure as Nikki Sixx hits rehab every six months she's going to be back on random cocks in bathrooms near you.

as an aside, it's mildly nauseating to read the whinings of a spoiled upper middle class jew who's mommy and daddy didn't love her enough, or make things about her enough. 

there are real things to be learnt from overpowering human need and insecurity and i'm not sure she gleaned so much as one of them.
