Glinda of Oz

While the book showcased Baum's evolving writing style, with Dorothy depicted as a more childlike character this time, it had a few flaws. The plot was overly complicated for an Oz book, bouncing around too much, though some side events could have made interesting stories on their own. One odd detail was Dorothy's kitten changing colors throughout the book. The most disturbing part was the graphic description of using preserved brains to give someone intelligence. Overall, the acclaimed Oz series left much to be desired, and it's unlikely I will ever revisit these books.
