Anne Shirley is exactly the opposite of what the Cuthberts were expecting when they send for a farmhand from the orphanage to help around the house and farm. Instead of a strong reliable boy they find a fiery, imaginative and headstrong girl. Anne desperately wants to stay at Green Gables, but will she ever persuade the Cuthberts to keep her, or learn how to fit in with everybody else?

Anne of Green Gables

Not gonna lie, the story has exceeded my expectations. This month's theme is coming of age books, a genre that I'm not really familiar with, to be honest. I spent hours looking for recommendations on Reddit, and I'm glad someone recommended this book.

The story itself is quite light.. I think it's very "kid friendly."

I didn't really feel any intense emotions UNTIL I reached the last few chapters of the book. It really does feel like Anne is growing up right before my eyes, and somehow, I don't know how to feel about that. It has a realistically happy ending and I just love it that way.

It's been a while since the last time a book could make me feel this wayㅡwarm, comforting; igniting a new spark in my rather flat adult life. Thanks to this book I once again remember how it feels to be excited over some fictional stories, hahaha.
